I’m doing okay. Got a decent night of sleep, had to take some Pepto because my acid reflux was beating my ass, but the tacos were still worth it. 🤣
As for my thoughts, I’ve read a lot of what’s been posted and honestly I’m still unsure what their relationship dynamic even was. Some of it reads like a casual but exclusive situation, while other parts sound much more serious; meeting family members, exchanging contact information, all of that.
If it was casual but closed, then parts of it do remind me of what’s been said in past fandom situations and it makes me think, “Matt… after everything the band has gone through, why even risk this kind of mess?” But people do dumb things when they’re lonely, bored, emotionally messy, or just not thinking clearly.
That said, I do think bringing unrelated rumors and unverified claims into the situation hurts her credibility. I understand she’s hurt and emotional right now, and heartbreak can absolutely make people spiral, but once you start repeating things that can’t be substantiated or dragging uninvolved people into it, the focus shifts away from your actual experience. And unfortunately, the internet never forgets. Deleting a story doesn’t erase screenshots. And please people, do not send in stuff to her just to troll. You're an asshole if you do that.
I am glad she mentioned getting tested though. Health should always come first, physically and mentally. And if she’s genuinely going through trauma from any of this, I sincerely hope she seeks support from a mental health professional too.
As for the more serious allegations being discussed online, those are not things to throw around lightly. If someone believes they experienced abuse or assault, they should contact the proper authorities and seek professional support. RAINN is a genuinely valuable resource for survivors and anyone needing guidance.
Regarding Matt making things private, I wasn’t surprised. From a legal and professional standpoint, that’s probably the smartest thing to do. I don’t expect him, the band, management, or the label to publicly address any of this unless something escalates significantly. If anything, they’ll probably become even more private moving forward.
At the end of the day, I’m still standing by what I’ve said from the start: take everything with a massive grain of salt. Emotions are high, people are reacting in real time, and fandoms have a habit of turning speculation into “fact” overnight.
If this situation makes someone no longer want to support the band, that’s their choice. If others still want to support them, that’s their choice too. There are bigger things in life than letting internet drama consume you.
Personally? I think everyone needs to log off for a bit, drink some water, touch grass, and remember that none of us actually know these people beyond what’s presented publicly.
But yeah… that’s where my head’s at right now. Be kind to yourselves and each other; and try not to lose your minds over strangers on the internet.
