Writers, I have a question

For those of the Writeblr community, do you publish what you write?

I'm interested in seeing some conversation about publishing original work through tumblr/wattpad/ao3/etc. versus writing with the intent of traditional or digital publication. Do you think these things can't coexist? Or do you/are there examples of writing published through of those routes that is planned to be traditionally published later on?

I ask because I feel like releasing your book to be read on the internet allows for community centered feedback, which could help with editing and writing. I'm just unsure if this is something that has been done before or if it is something that publishing companies would deny a book for doing.

I know there are examples of this within fanfiction, but I feel like that is a different scenario, given that the story has to be changed significantly before it can be published, given its nature.

Hey! I could use some opinions if y’all have a second! I’m starting to look more seriously into getting my erasure book published. On the left is the “condensed” version; each chapter of the book is on one page (each line is one page from the chapter). On the right is basically what the actual book looked like when I erased it; it’s spaced out true to the book. The condensed version is less visually appealing (in my opinion) but it’s only 40-ish pages. The spaced version is true to my vision and more “authentic” I guess, but the entire document is about 275 pages; I feel like that’s too long?

So here are my questions: do you prefer the look of the left image or the right? Would you personally buy a poetry book that was 275 pages long??
