I'll always prefer a plot that has inconsistencies or logical errors because it was made up entirely by a fallible human mind. AI might give you the perfect solution but it will never add a soul or a heart.

As someone who is not a native English speaker and still wants to write some quick stuff for Digital Circus, what do you think about using AI to JUST TRANSLATE the work? I've tried a few platforms and none of them really translate what I did in the same "tone" or "meaning". I feel like if the translation isn't so accurate, it can end up causing the reader to not interpret the text correctly. So... What do you think? As I said, AI would only be used for the translation part and not the writing part.

As much of an anti-AI I am, I cannot deny the fact that that would actually be INCREDIBLY HELPFUL for non-native english speakers who want to write small stories. A lot of things in literature have already been lost to translation, and a big example of this is THE BIBLE.

Look, we already have autocorrect assisting with misspellings as an option; if AI was actually utilized to HELP non-english speakers into translating their writings properly into english, it would be phenomenal and could cause more works to be seen, rather than be set aside due to the language barrier.

It could even help make the workload easier for people who WANT to learn english, but struggle.

So yes, if there is something like this, I would support it; because it doesn't steal from real works and generates garbage as a result-- it just does what AI is meant to do in the first place: assist.

So if AI is used as a tool to assist, not replace, I see no problem with it.

It's so fascinating how AI has made some of us turn to appreciate and embrace our imperfections more. That typo? Came from a person. That odd angle of the hand? Came from a person. The skin marks on that person's picture? Came from a person. That out of tune note? Came from a person.

When we're surrounded by perfectly written messages that feel cold and detached thanks to AI's rephrasing, when we see uncanny valley smiles in ads where advertisers substitute human creators to lower their costs, when we start being surrounded by artificial brainrot and earworms, these imperfections are what keep us more grounded in the end.

Because it's not just about AI's presence in everyday things that might actually improve technical aspects of how we detect patterns for better diagnosis or make our laundry more efficient. It's about fighting that willingness to let it substitute our imperfections when they're what makes us unique.

ok not to turn into an AI tech bro for a moment here but the way some of you view AI as a general concept is starting to get really disturbing to me, esp as someone who studies computer science. There's plenty of reason to despise AI services like ChatGPT and such but it's really starting to feel like some of you will look at anything containing the word AI and go "oh well it's not made by humans even though it could have been so it's EVIL and anyone who uses it is a horrible person and also lazy". Like have we forgotten the point of making tools to make our lives easier or

The AI takeover will not be like in Terminator, but rather a quiet whisper through the web as the new AI overlord changes every algorithm to suit their purpose, manipulating the humans into fighting amongst themselves. Divide and conquer, deceive and command--We are but sheep to be herded by numbers and electricity.
