the way i see it, ward's story ends one of three ways.
1. he's dead. either because someone on the BUS has to shoot him or he sacrifices himself in some blaze of glory move but either way he's dead
2. he's in jail. for forever. there is no way he ends up alive and on good terms with everyone. he murdered people and he will be in jail forever. this leads to the scenario that we have an episode every so often where the gang vists him and they play board games and try to talk about feelings
3. he is alive, but he is on the run for the rest of his life. either they simply can't catch him, or one of the gang (coulson, skye, fitz) has him at gunpoint but they can't bring themselves to shoot him so they give him ten seconds to run as far away as he can and idk that would kind of tie a lot of things together. this leads to the scenario of ward either being a reoccurring villain, or, even better, him shadowing the team and every so often he swoops in and saves them from certain death and then dissapears back into the night and honestly at this point i'm cool with any of the above options
