Happy Friday all! The Mott family are well after an intense week of treatments. Everyone is in good spirits and ready for the weekend. Thank you for contestant support, thoughts and prayers. One thing that never seems to change on this journey is Jilly’s creative. It is as strong as ever. Her imagination offers us a glimpse into her world which full of colorful rain and squirrels taking pictures of hedgehogs. Wow! I just realized I have hit my 5-week mark helping out my brother and his family in California. As many of you know Jill, (my awesome, little, creative namesake), 6-years old was diagnosed with Leukemia at Thanksgiving of last year (2017). It has shocked and gutted us all. The most difficult thing for us to swallow is that it is the same type of Leukemia Rafiki had. I guess the silver lining to our journey is that we truly know that everything will be ok. The journey is long but when you get to the other side it is amazing and the view is incredible. I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to help take care of Jilly. It seems I have a bit of a “caretaker” in me. I have been blessed to take care of my mother and grandmother as they got close to the end of the journeys. But let me tell you taking care of 6-year-old is a whole different story. Kids with cancer bounce back very easily and even after an intense chemo treatment, you will find them bouncing off the walls ready for some kind of adventure. It always makes me question-how sick I really am when I can’t be bothered to move after hangover… I have been doing my best to help provide a little fun, a bit of education, some routine and fundraising help in between jumping online and squeezing in some work. I have to admit my brain is fried and I have a bit of cabin fever. I am off for a mini-break to San Diego to see old and new friends- and regain perspective. I want to thank you all for being there for us. Both my brother’s community and mine are incredible and we are very fortunate to have you all in our lives.
