I just found out NamelessLegacy, the original founder of the groundbreaking thpatch program just resigned and passed leadership to another person.
I'm not sure how this will affect the structure of the project, but it seems there was a lot of behind-the-scenes power struggles going on.
In case you don't know much about the program's founder NamelessLegacy, just refer to this. tbh I still use his program, but I really feel he was a bit of a drama king. With someone who has this much bad PR, claims to have quit the fandom several times, and openly denounces the fandom and ZUN (even saying things like telling people not to support ZUN and calling him an 'egoist xenophobe') and pretty much acts grouchy all the time, it was only a matter of time before it all blew up.
Anyway, someone else is doing the project, but apparently the management is really terrible which lead to NamelessLegacy denouncing the project and claiming it to be as good as dead. Of course one could argue this is just Nameless being grouchy, but I worry. What if the team has no clue what they are doing? this troubles me because the THpatch project has tons of potential, but the people involved seemed to have caused controversy and now it all looks like a sinking ship.
THpatch really saved a lot of time in getting translations of new Touhou games out fast; a godsend to the western Touhou community; especially since it will mean faster translations for multiple languages beyond just japanese and english. Now it seems like this project is at risk of going under, which is troubling since that will mean that we'll be back to waiting half a year for an english translation alone for Touhou 15 when it comes out, with chances for translations to anything else being slim if we're lucky.
