Does anyone else not like that Oliver’s skin turns white as he gets older?
The purple skin was the only thing that showed he was half thraxan and now it’s almost gone cuz “viltrumite gene’s are dominant” like we couldn’t already see that with everything else
That show about that one guy named "Imbecile" or something
Thraxans and their parallels to humans:
The comics state that a Thraxan lives for 9 months but make up for this short lifespan by learning fast and forgetting nothing. Basically, a Thraxan newborn can learn how to fix a car then be big enough to apply that knowledge in like 3 weeks. As humans, we are naturally either disgusted by or disinterested in the appearance of insects. We step on them all the time with no regard for their lives because they're so small and finite compared to us. Basically, Mark is put off by the Thraxans for the same reasons Viltrumites are put off by humans; they're an inferior lifeform with short lifespans and strange customs. In the end, Mark quickly accepts the humanity (for lack of a better term) of the Thraxans and defends them same as he would a human. Also(no spoilers) the Thraxans technically end up winning in the end since their species interbreeds with the most powerful alien race in the known universe. Combine a long lifespan with an exquisite memory and you got a powerful combination.
invincible oc time !!! Soooo..I drew her again and tried to cope the style of ryan Ottley. BEcause i recently discovered i was at 33 issues....to finish the whole comic...and...I dont want to finish because...It was my therapy for a long time... well everything must come to an end I guess.
wait
is that lil' baby bug in the beginning Nolan's wife?🥺💘
they even zoom in on her admiring Nolan
What if Cecil discovered the thraxans?
i was very confused when i first received this ask, but one of my friends who is more experienced with tumblr says it’s a sign that my blog is doing well in its niche (its niche being cecil). so here’s my take on it.
i don’t know if this was meant to be a writing prompt but i’ll assume you just want a breakdown
cecil probably doesn’t give a fuck about the thraxans because they’re a nonviolent, short-lived species. his only tie to them is via other characters, such as debbie, nolan and oliver. (also in theory, he knows about the thraxans because he knows about oliver). he’d have a hard time believing that nolan protected these people (or that nolan redeemed himself in any way, not until he sees it himself). if he learned that nolan had sex with a bug mere months after leaving earth (and debbie), i think he’d be pissed on debbie’s behalf but not all that surprised. nolan DID call debbie a pet before zooming off to god knows where.
this kind of goes the same for any alien life that cecil discovers if it’s a) not harmful and b) incapable of being weaponized. there’s a quote from star wars revenge of the sith novelization about dooku, saying he sees only threats and assets, and no third category. i think it applies well to cecil (for the most part). he’s not some conqueror marching into the far reaches of space to protect his planet. i don’t think he’s ever used anything that hasn’t come around and fucked with him or the planet first (sinclair, darkwing, etc). coercion is not his strong suit.
tl;dr he wouldn’t really care.
thank you for the ask, anon. if you wanted a prose response i am so sorry LOL. i love getting any kind of ask that i can, especially about characters i like or my OCs, so this is warmly welcomed after my bout of puzzlement.
Invincible "Its Been A While" Review
It is hard to believe we are already half way through the second season of Invincible. It took so long to arrive, and now the first four episodes have flown by.
There is a lot to unpack here and for this episode it feels impossible to review it without spoilers. So please don't keep reading if you have not seen the episode.
We get a detailed version of where Omni-Man has been, and it fits right alongside the comic book story for those who know it. He has helped the Thraxans and even fallen in love with one of them. He has learned from his past and even reveals to Mark that he has fathered another child.
This episode has so much impact on the larger story. It was well worth the wait. The slower world building moments that have taken over this season were for good reason. We were being led to this very moment. This show utilizes their breaks to perfection. The reveal last week of Omni-Man and his return. The attack from the Viltrumites this week and ending on a massive cliffhanger heading into the break. Oh, and let's not forget that Angstrom Levy is still hanging around waiting to strike.
Invincible has become the show that encompasses everything I enjoy into one series. Dramatic character development, superheroes, and world building are all done with such a delicate and subtle touch. It is the perfect blend of humanity mixed with the elements of science fiction. The show has opened up multiple storylines that can be explored in the back half while still playing out 3 or 4 subplots at the same time. That is how great shows do it. Season 2 is setting up to much greater than Season 1 if all the chips fall where they should.
