I know a lot of courting happens with vampires, werewolves, and other monsters.. but imagine insect like monsters/aliens!
Bees/Ants:
You have to pass the queen test. Before any bee or ant can continue dating you; the queen must approve of you. Otherwise, dating you without the approval of their queen is a VERY big no-no.
Don't worry! Just bring a gift and act respectfully. Boom. You passed the queen test.
Spiders:
You're being courted by a spider? Hope you have room to store all the weaving crafts they are going to make you. Oh, and while you're on it.. get a bigger closet. You're going to have a whole new wardrobe because they just love making you pretty clothes!
Make sure you have extra room for the best blanket you're ever going to feel as well.
Beetles:
Protecting you and courting is the same thing, right? Totally. Why else would they take hard hits if not to show off their strength and endurance to you? Bonus points if they get to show off their impressive throwing skills. You need to be able to see their strength used to its full potential.
It's an important skill, you know. Extremely important.
Thraxans and their parallels to humans:
The comics state that a Thraxan lives for 9 months but make up for this short lifespan by learning fast and forgetting nothing. Basically, a Thraxan newborn can learn how to fix a car then be big enough to apply that knowledge in like 3 weeks. As humans, we are naturally either disgusted by or disinterested in the appearance of insects. We step on them all the time with no regard for their lives because they're so small and finite compared to us. Basically, Mark is put off by the Thraxans for the same reasons Viltrumites are put off by humans; they're an inferior lifeform with short lifespans and strange customs. In the end, Mark quickly accepts the humanity (for lack of a better term) of the Thraxans and defends them same as he would a human. Also(no spoilers) the Thraxans technically end up winning in the end since their species interbreeds with the most powerful alien race in the known universe. Combine a long lifespan with an exquisite memory and you got a powerful combination.
i love my oc hyacinth so much he's so cute im gonna throw up!!!!!!!!!
Did a little sculpture of Hexlay! With a lot of stylized choices and design changes to make more sense in a 3D space.
