Woops. Well, that obviously didn’t come across as intended. Alexei wasn’t bothered by the comments though. Not when he had a relationship to rebuilt with the girl. Yelena would come to see he had meant it in a loving fatherly way rather than being ‘gross’. 

Or maybe he should just clarify. Nodding to himself, Alexei finally told her. “My father did to save my hands. They nearly froze right off. He did it out of love for me. We’d gone ice fishing and I fell into the river, and he-- it was nice. Warm.-- I would do it for you, too.”

“They always want better, faster, stronger-- It is the army.” Shrugging, he sat down next to the girl and looked her over. She didn’t look like his girls, but they shared that same spirit --that undeniable fire inside-- which made him want to side with her already.
