Seated in the foyer of the compound, Rebekah fidgeted with a small, delicate ring wore permanently on her right hand. It was no longer daylight, and the ring held little use now, but still she found comfort in the familiar silver against her skin.
The time on her phone signified that her little sister was late. Rebekah perused texts from Marcel, who was already on his way back to their home in New York, and silently chided Bryn's reckless untimeliness. Though vampires did not require sleep, she found herself personally offended that the other Mikaelson would keep her waiting up at such an hour.
"Took you long enough," she greeted as Bryn finally arrived, unmoving from her lounged position on the sofa. Arms folded and legs sprawled across the cushions (Elijah would have a field day considering she had not bothered to take off her boots), Rebekah took in the new arrival.
The sisters had not shared a space since before the treachery of the Hollow, and now Bryn look every part a mother-to-be. Blue hues lingered over the swell of her sister's stomach and the noise that came from Rebekah emitted as a scoff.
“So it’s true? Another nature-defying spawn come to life. Best hope this one takes after her cousin or you might be stuck with a satanic hellion of a brat. No way to be sure...” Rebekah’s eyes narrowed and she allowed the ugly, festering feeling inside to boil over.
"You just weren’t going to tell me? You told Freya.” Despite her love for their elder sister, Freya had not grown up alongside them. Rebekah and Bryn had been sisters for centuries. “You’re welcome to sit over there. I don’t know what treacherously contagious curse that little demon might try on me.”
