flynn had only looked away for a second but only because the other had pointed in the other direction, when he looked back he gasped because her hand was halfway in the direction of his plate about to steal some of his fries. “matilda!” he laughed, playfully swatting her hand away and shaking his head. “i can’t believe you tried to trick me. all you had to do was ask and of course, i would’ve told you no but it’s the thought that counts. don’t you know that?” he joked.

a puff of air slipped past flynn’s lips as he plopped down in the seat next to the other, “i thought someone was playing a prank on me...” he trailed off, staring off for a moment. he’d been trying to figure out how the hell he ended up floating when he almost fell down some stairs the other day and he finally found out after talking to his family, “but surprise, surprise...i’m half fae.” he breathed out and finally looked over at the person seated next to him. “how do i go my entire life without knowing this? i’m in my thirties and i never even had an inkling that i could be some kind of supernatural being.”

"--don’t you just love kids?” flynn spoke with a huge grin plastered across his face as he watched a couple of kids run in front of him as he sat on the park bench. he was an elementary school teacher and he loved to surround himself with their energy as much as possible. he had decided to enjoy his afternoon after school at the park to help himself wind down from the week, a couple of papers in his lap as he looked over at the person seated next to him. “they really do just fill the air with so much....” he trailed off, furrowing his eyebrows in thought, “positivity.”

“-i know i’ve already said this but,” flynn started, a smile playing on his face as he held the girl close to him, “you really do look beautiful.” he added, his hand on the small of her back while his free hand held hers. he swayed along to the music with her and leaned down to capture her lips with his. “and i feel lucky every time i have you on my arm.” it’d been a long time since flynn had dated anyone but every time he saw matilda, his feelings for her only got stronger. “what do you say we spoil ourselves and grab ice cream after this? i don’t want to just...take you home. i want to spend time with you.”

flynn hadn’t seen much of his friends lately and he knew that he was to blame. he’d been spending the majority of his time with matilda and now, he felt the need to branch out and visit a couple of his friends. he stopped by the club, making his way to zeke’s office when he didn’t see him out at the bar. he knocked and let himself in when the other said to come in. he smiled, closing the door behind him and plopping down across from him. “long time, no see, huh? how’re you holding up?”

the two of them had managed to have fun, as they always did, but they’d both drank probably more than they should have. it wasn’t that it was what they were aiming for but in the midst of everything, it just kind of happened. he stopped in front of her apartment, his hand holding onto hers and a goofy grin spread over his face, “mat, i really don’t want to go home.” he admitted. dropping her off after each other their dates was his least favorite thing to do, “i just,” he started, his hand cupping her cheeks as he grinned down at her, “wanna spend time with my favorite girl.” he finally added and tucked some hair behind her ear. “can i stay?”

he could recognize the man’s voice anywhere. it wasn’t like it was annoying but flynn didn’t have a lot of friends and he kept a small circle so he approached him, putting together that it very much was solomon he was approaching. he smiled, “hey, man. it’s good to see that you got out of the house and decided to enjoy yourself. did you come with a date or are you just seeing who approaches you? i hope i’m not killing your vibe.” he joked, a small chuckle leaving his lips. “this party’s been cool though, right? it was much better than i though it would be. i’m not too much of a party goer but i’m having fun.”

it wasn’t like him to fall asleep over at calum and matilda’s but he’d been hanging out with matilda even more than usual and he’d fallen asleep in the middle of their movie the night before. luckily, he didn’t have to work and he was thankful for that because he was sure he would’ve been late. he lifted his head, looking over at her and smiling slightly. “uh-” he started, laughing softly once her eyes were open. “sorry.” he added, motioning to the bed. “i mean, i didn’t mean to fall asleep.”
