“You didn’t have to do all of that,” Nova said, rolling over from their side to their stomach on their bed.
They were lucky to have a friend like Freddie; when they’d started dating this guy no one liked him, so when he dumped them at the worst possible time Freddie was the only one who didn’t have some sort of told-you-so shit to say about it. The brunette wiped their wet cheeks with their palms, knowing damn well they couldn’t hide how red their face was from crying. “You’re the best, you know that?”
Freddie batted the air before him when they thanked him. It was the least he could do knowing how bad a breakup could be. Distraction was key and if he could be the kind of person to do it, then, hell, he’d buy a billion pizzas if he could.
“Yeah, I know.” He teased, giving her a grin as he put the pizza on the end of the bed, joining them with crossed legs beside her. “Valentine’s Day sucks anyway. Even if you were still dating it’d be busy restaurants, overly expensive presents, hearts everywhere and bleuch.” He gave a shudder before opening the box, pushing it her way for Nova to help themself. “If we hold out tonight, we can buy all the discount chocolate tomorrow.”
