“I would say we risked everything for you, but the Accords weren’t about you. So I suppose I’ll say, welcome to the team. We’re a dysfunctional family at best, and I’m not sure what you’d call us at our worse. Just know, if Steve somehow misplaced his trust in you, if you hurt that man, I will kill you in your sleep. It won’t be painless either, it’ll be slow and you’ll feel every second of it.”
Natasha shook Bucky’s good arm, as she finally had a private moment with the ex-HYDRA agent. She could swear he seemed familiar, far too familiar, but there were so many lost memories and aliases from before she was with SHIELD. She couldn’t be sure if he was apart of any, and she didn’t spend a whole lot of time on it at the present.
A-Xiang walks out of the cafe in a rush, trying to get to the studio. She tries to make a habit of not being late, but today was going to be an exception. She wasn't paying attention as she walked fast, yelping as she collided into someone, spilling coffee on her shirt. "Oh shit! Are you okay?"
“You’re naive and a little gullible sometimes, we need to work on your body language reading. You know, if you become skilled enough at it, you might be able to tell what people really want. I don’t want you to put us or even yourself at risk.”
Natasha crossed her arms as she viewed Vision, she felt bad to be potentially taking away his innocence. It was a view of the world that was rare, but to Natasha, just because it was rare, didn’t mean it was true. People always had ulterior motives, and it was her job to make sure those motives weren’t detrimental to the team. She was the mother bear to the team, and they were her cubs. She would do what she needed to get the job, and do what she needed to make sure everyone was safe.
Her hand reached out to his shoulder, a small smirk on her face as she spoke. “It’s not enough to be powerful, you have to know how and when to use that power.”
Natasha “Black Widow” Romanoff is being added as a request only muse. This means that if anyone wants to interact with Natasha, they will have to message me ooc to let me know. She will not get starter calls or other character tags aside from a thread tag, which I put on this post as a tag dump.
It had seemed like a good idea at the time when the invitation had come through, Stark’s events were legendary and Carol was never one to turn down a party. Having spent the day sulking in her flat, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to let go and have fun. The crowd gathered were friendly, the music was loud with a good beat and the food was better than anything she’d tasted before. It was almost enough to drown out the dark memories haunting her since she had returned to the X-Mansion. Almost.
When the champagne started flowing, she had hesitated. It had been months since she last drank and she’d been doing well to avoid it, sticking to soft drinks with excuses of early starts and fitness regimes. Surely one wouldn’t hurt? Just one and she’d stop. It would help dull the raging voices in her head and she could properly enjoy herself. Assured with her logic, she accepted the glass offered and took a long and grateful sip. It was stronger than she remembered and no doubt outrageously expensive if she knew Stark. It would be rude to waste it.
Somewhere between the third glass of champagne and the dancefloor, she’d been pulled over to the bar. She had laughed along with her newly met companions as they downed shot after shot of colourful liquid, feeling the familiar buzz overtake her. She had cheered as they passed around bottles of whiskey and grabbed one taking generous sips, claiming ownership by clutching it tightly to her chest. The party was still in full swing, more guests arriving and crowding into the room. Deciding it was getting too warm she stumbled across the room, barely registering how many people she had knocked into, and slipped out onto the empty terrace.
The freezing night air hit her hard, shaking her from her stupor. She was drunk. Feeling her chest constrict, she heaved and lurched forward onto the railings. Taking desperate breaths, she stared down at the near-empty bottle still clutched in her hands and squeezed her eyes shut. Filled with self-loathing and dread, she felt the burn in her throat and the sting in her eyes as tears threatened to fall. Just one, she’d said, and I’ll stop. But it never was.
The meeting wasn't for another hour, yet Snowdrift had arrived in the Avengers mansion. Of course, when one lived there, it was easy to arrive ahead of time and get the details down so that one understood them in advance Seeing as he'd moved out...well, he still had an image to keep up, didn't he? The person who showed up ahead of time, kept their ear to the ground, and learned what they could was a good image to have.
He was scarcely aware of the visitor in the library of the mansion until he looked over towards the closest window...and saw reddish-brown hair that didn't belong to someone that he knew on sight.
"Hello." Snowdrift murmured, looking the woman straight in the eye. The outfit they wore almost certainly concealed the build of someone who could casually thrash any physical combatant into next month in a heartbeat, without breaking a sweat. "I take it...you also wanted to get here ahead of time?" He added with a smile. "I can't say that we've met. The name's Snowdrift. I'm part of the Avengers. I take it you are as well?"
