She leans in her doorway, observing Alex with a semi smirk on her face. “You know, Agent Danvers, with such a late night visit, I might start to get the wrong idea.” Still she moves out of the way to let her in. “But let’s get down to business. I’m sure there is an actual reason for you coming to my humble abode rather than the enjoyment of my company. What can I help you with?” Fatima walks to the kitchen counter, picking up a glass of wine that she’d poured before Alex had knocked.

She’d mostly kept to herself when the prison that they were all sentenced to started moving. She’d kept her cell free from any that would potentially cause her harm as the dust from the riot settled. Fatima was doing her best to survive in a situation where there were many who would have no qualms about taking her life. So far it had been effective, but she knew that it wouldn’t last for long. While she hated to potentially align herself with a people that had been the cause of so much pain to her before, survival was the primary objective. Which is what led her here, to General Astra In-Ze. The Kryptonian general had managed to at least create a small pocket of order and she hoped to gain the benefits of that. She was ushered before the woman and she stood, trying to take her in. Who knows if this woman was the type of leader that refused to be spoken to first, but she wanted to be careful. And so, she waited.

She’d been just minding her own business by sitting and reading at the table she liked. Like usual. But of course, like all good things, the local government seemed to need to involve itself in her business. Fatima could spot the woman a mile off. No one with that amount of swagger and purpose came to a library. Thank goodness she typically scanned her surroundings every so often or she would have been caught unawares. Fatima looked around and scowled. There were no good quick exits so she would have to interact with this woman. At least there were witnesses so if things went south, she wouldn’t have to worry about her life being at risk. For now, Fatima was content to go back and pretend to read her book. She would have liked to truly absorb its contents as she’d been told that it was a classic. So far all she was experiencing was a disturbed teenage girl falling in love with an obsessive immortal vampire, but she was hoping for Twilight to turn around.

Dating was not exactly a concept that Fatima was overly familiar with. However, she’d been coerced by a friend to at least give it a try. Something about how annoying it was to listen to her complain about being alone all the time. She’d grumbled about it, but then had come around to the idea. Having watched a few romcoms and gone on the internet for advice, Fatima had pulled out as many of the stops as possible. She’d made sure to offer Alex a seat, done her best to make jokes, and carefully shown interest in Alex and what she did. A far cry from the usual defensive and snarky side she usually showed off to the world. It did leave her wondering if the effort  in all this was worth it at the end. Not that the other women wasn’t very nice. 

When Alex spoke, Fatima’s eyebrows shot up slightly, not having realized that things had seemingly gone so well. For the first time in the night, she stumbled, not really sure what came next in this whole process. A hand came up, running through her hair to push the strands of it that had fallen in front back where it should be. “Uh...” She thought for a moment. “Well I know the concept of a blind date means you don’t know much about the other person, but did your friend let you know that I’m not... familiar with much dating? I had a lot of fun, but I don’t want to give you false expectations.”

While she didn’t normally do stuff like this, Fatima preferred to either work alone or to not really do this sort of work all together. But sometimes there came an offer that was nearly impossible to refuse. The money was good, the task was not without risk, but at least it was feasible. However, the issue became that she was being forced, requested rather, to work with someone. It made sense. Fatima didn’t have the technical expertise required to get past some of the security, even with her own talents. Which is why she was here, sitting in this cafe and waiting. Hopefully whoever this was would show up and they’d be able to get this done. She wanted her money. Fatima checked her watch. She’d give it another half an hour before she gave up.

She hadn’t meant to say it out loud. It was still hard sometimes to determine what things were thoughts and what wouldn’t. The downside to no longer being able to communicate by touch without being rude. Fatima shook her head. “How oddly optimistic of you.” She shifted in her chair. It was cold in here. To humans it was probably fine, but Fatima was used to warmer climates all year round. “Our teachings always emphasized that one shouldn’t reach above the station they had. Hence part of the reason I ended up in Fort Rozz. As you know of course. We’ve gone over that story plenty enough times.” Fatima had lied through the course of that. Well, left out a few important details. Like the fact that she hadn’t acted in self defense when she’d killed the Kryptonians, but that was a small detail. 

“I don’t think you all would appreciate me trying to get back home, which is my heart’s desire. I’m sure you have the technology around here somewhere.” She shrugged. “There are rules for a reason. Be the rules for actions, behavior, or thoughts. You all need the things I would need to get home in order to protect your planet from people like Non. That’s a reason I understand and so I stay here. I’m dreading having to learn all these other rules alone.”

Abrupt Call || Fatima & Shay

There was a frown on her face as Fatima banged loudly on the door to Shay’s apartment. She had texted the woman earlier and gotten no response. True, it was far earlier than she had ever tried to contact Shay, but Shay had promised. She shifted from foot to foot and then knocked again. Stupid humans and their stupid doors.
