“just WHAT did you think would happen , carmilla ? did you think i would not notice that as i grew older you always remained the SAME ? that woman - that lilita - revealed to me what you are . what your plans for me WERE . how can i not gaze upon you in fear when i haven’t the SLIGHTEST idea if you plan to carry out those wretched ideas ? “

ell was in tears , holding her hand that was  s t i l l   bleeding from having been cut open . she LOVED carmilla with all of her fragile , beating , human heart . she always would . that could never change . yet her heart was beating  f a s t e r  at that moment in time from the fear she felt . those fangs . that look on carmilla’s face . everything was rushing through ell’s soft mind attempting to take in the idea that this was all real . her dreams - or nightmares - had ALL been so very real .

“look at me carmilla and tell me that you have not harmed me before . that what that woman said of you were lies . “ her soft , dark eyes focused on the love of her life as she took a step closer to her , ell’s hand still steadily bleeding into her palm as she held it .

          “ It was terrible , Carmilla . i felt defenseless and these dreams are becoming more and more frequent . when i awaken from my night’s slumber i feel in pain - weak and aching - as if it were all so real . “  she started before hearing what CARMILLA said about her being in her dreams . curling up close to her love, ELL laid her head upon Carmilla’s chest and softly tangled her fingers through the girl’s hair to show that she was there in real life for her .

       “i have dreamed of you many nights before, as well , my beloved . trips to the wonderful new states , spending an  e t e r n i t y   together always kissed by moonlight . it is so beautiful that i wish you could see . “ she sighed happily before looking drowsy . ell was   d r a i n e d   from the past few nights - her colour was more palid then before and her heart was beating slower then what it normally would be when in her love’s arms .

      “ i feel tired , my love . but i fear falling asleep again . will you please lay with me tonight ?” she asked , her soft, swollen eyes staring up towards Carmilla with her head still on her chest . unfortunately maman had completely different plans for the girl. she was to keep getting worn down as to make a nice, easy sacrifice just like the girls before .

ELL’S eyes are almost bright with sadness , if that is even possible. She holds Carmilla’s hand as gently a possible, gazing into her eyes . the girl had just suffered a horrible carriage crash and the driver must have flew the scene . alone and cold out in this wintry BLANKET of unrest snow . no . the young girl simple could not allow it . moving her hand under carmilla’s to assist her up , she first takes off her own , thick robe to wrap around the wounded  s t r a n g e r . ell , so sweet and innocent - her body would freeze out in that foot deep drift of snow while uncovered - and yet she did not care . she wrapped carmilla up tightly in the robe and smiled , starting back towards the place she called home .

the two of them would be alone for awhile seeing as how her father left town for work - but ell did not mind . this girl was hurt and so kind hearted , still, to say she could never harm her . running a silky soft hand across carmilla’s cheek she smiled, her teeth chattering and her breath showing in hot chimney puffs coming from her mouth in the frigid winter air . 

“ M’am , the fire burns hot inside my home . you are welcome as a guest as long as you need . “ she offered , smiling still as she held the woman . her own frail body unknowingly placing itself into mortal danger by assisting the seemingly harmed woman . eyes were watching from the woods -- those of Lilita -- Carmilla’s ‘ mother ‘ , and she knew that her plan would go through just as it had numerous times before . 

“ are you hungry --? i can make you a bite to eat . “ she offered the stranger , kind eyes never leaving hers as she stood in the snow dressed in her hand made leather boots and under night clothes with no protection from the winter air .
