EPHEMERA, PHOTOGRAPHY, & MULTIPLES, 1978 - 1985

COLAB’s ever changing nexus of thirty to sixty artists included many who later achieved individual fame, but the group’s real contribution was the philosophy of creative engagement it advanced through collective, do-it-yourself actions: mounting exhibitions like the Real Estate Show (1980) and the Times Square Show (1980); and starting art spaces like Fashion Moda in the South Bronx (1978–93) and ABC No Rio in the Lower East Side (1980–present).

A twist on the classic three card Monte(y).  This is presented as part of my effort to force myself to learn one magic trick a month.  The three card Monte has been around since about the 15 th century.  it is known by many names, Three-card marney, Three-Way, Three-card shuffle, Menage-a-card, Follow the lady,Triplets, Les Trois Perdants (French for Three Losers), le Bonneteau, Find the lady, Follow the Bee and more.

It is a a game that cannot be won, but you will never see it played without a hopeful crowd.  I hope you enjoy this take on it and if you have time feel free to pop over to youtube and like or hate it.
