Three Devils: Love and Duty and End of Ego
Three Devils: Love and Duty
After the Astral Agents spent a night in Ishgard being attacked by Scarlet Clad Ninjas and Lady Aravyl herself, charges were brought up against the company from both Inquisitor Skyfang and House Reif. The Inquisitor charged the company with associating and summoning heretical voidsent; while House Reif charged them with assaulting a charge of the house and stealing property.
First Flame Commander Iron Jaw was sent to assume direct control of Astral Agents and investigate into the company to see if dissolving or more direct punishment were required. During his initial meeting, Lady Aravyl attacked once more and attempted to escape with Saelsria Grumble. The Agents were able to defeat her and before she disappeared the elezen begged them to stop her by finding the source.
Smugly, Iron Jaw used the unfortunate timing for her attack to assume direct control unchallenged, though both Sarij and Director Mountain were indisposed at the time. Later he met with company leadership, Ignera Arbell, and Sterrbhar to inform the of his true intentions. To prevent the Order of Nald’thal backed syndicate members from getting too much power, the Immortal Flames wished to acquire powerful texts from the Great Gubal Library before them. In that very same library may have had evidence on the Astral Agent’s innocence regarding the voidsent. The charges from House Reif were largely ignored due to the fact Inquisitor Skyfang expressed doubts of the legitimacy of the House.
Sterrbhar, Reks, Nocturne, and Iron Jaw were the team sent into the Library to check out the texts of interests. Much of the library was infested with voidsent and other defenses, but after a great number of battles, and some tense negotiations between Nocturne and Iron Jaw both goals were accomplished. Iron Jaw wasted no time in closing his investigation and setting the Agents free, but at the same time showed zero concern in dealing with Lady Aravyl and the Source.
Xere’to, however, had spent much of the time researching into where this historical source could be and enlisted Sterrbhar to once again assist him in locating it. They met at Falcon’s Rest to pour over old maps and records not seized by House Reif’s cleanup. Sterrbhar’s keen eyes caught a old farmstead that seemed to be oddly vivid with life and Xere’to’s prying discovered it was directly over leylines and once belonged to House Reif.
They made haste to perform an investigation in person, but Sterrbhar caught sight of a scarlet cloak. The pair was once more being tailed by the Raen ninjas from the night in Ishgard. Sterrbhar shook them for the time being while Xere’to and he traveled to the farmstead.
It certainly was the source. The yard was filled with voidsent milling about, absorbing the aether from the leylines and killing anyone who dared trespass. Outnumbered, the pair set up wards to discourage the voidsent from leaving and were about to depart when the Scarlet-Clad attacked. The skirmish was cut short when none other than Lady Skyfang arrived and Raen retreated. Xere’to and Sterrbhar had a short conversation with the Inquisitor, who informed them she would attend the final assault, and returned home.
Three Devils: The End Of Ego
Xere’to wasted no time in preparing the final assault. Sterrbhar, Reks, Cerina, Fier, Director Mountain, Koh’li, Crooked Tarot, Svar, Inquisitor Skyfang and Xere’to quickly arrived at the farmstead and after a short battle they disposed of the voidsent outside with no major injury. However, the presence of Lady Aravyl only grew stronger.
In the cellar, Lady Aravyl in Elezen form was chained to the pillars are a particularly frightening void portal. The woman begged for someone to stop binding a voidsent to here, going so far as to call it heresy and beg Halone for help. This was quite contrary to the belief that she made the deal herself… and implicated House Reif for something much darker.
Unlike before, several agents were wounded by her bladed finger before she was sealed by Sterrbhar. Svar and Sterrbhar received a last spiteful attack from the voidsent. Cerina’s axe and Koh’li’s lance slashed and impaled them. Thankfully, several healers were in attendance and none were lost. Oddly, Lady Aravyl Reif remained after the voidsent was sealed away, alive though unconscious. Inquisitor Skyfang took the elezen and left. After sealing the void portal, Xere’to and the rest of the Agents left, the Book of Lies in Director Mountain’s possession.
