(@three-reasons-why) ((hello mirror!!)) "Please don't go..."
How in the world he ended up back here was anyone’s guess, but something he did know of was how his heart was shaking in his chest -- the ghost of past fear as all that was in his ears was a familiar ambient whirr, bright lights all around. All he wanted was to get out, out, out... but as a tiny tug downward against his white shirt by a tiny hand grabbed his attention, fear still gripped him, but his heart ached as he was left to stare down at eyes that matched his own -- at hair that was exactly like his.
He stared at his smaller self, terrified and starved, as his VR headset had been left against the floor after a recent duel. His heart ached, his urge for action rising, as he heard the tiniest little voice --
Did he always sound like that, when crying for help when all hope was lost...?
He sighed, kneeling down to his younger self against a white floor, surrounded by white walls as he placed a hand on his younger self’s shoulder.
“Don’t worry yourself. I won’t leave you.” He said; knowing all too well that those were the exact words his younger self wanted to hear, ten years ago.
He never thought he’d be back here. He never thought he’d ever be trapped in this hell again... yet. Here he was.
“I won’t leave you behind. I’ll get you out of here.”
Ice took control of his veins as he made a promise he was all too aware he couldn’t exactly keep. His self from ten years ago didn’t want him to leave... but in a room with no windows and no doors... where was he supposed to go...?
He had to think of a way out. He couldn’t stay here, and he couldn’t leave himself behind, problems with destroying the past be damned. It may be the same room, but he was older -- smarter.
He turned his gaze to the black numbers; the only thing different against the white.
He’d find a way out -- there had to be one. And he’d finally let himself free.
