Thrifting Tips: based on experience
On my recent post, I’ve answered a few questions frequently asked by my friends and relatives. I’ve mentioned that I’m going to provide you guys a particular post to give you certain tips that could help you make the most out of your thrifting experience. So today’s post is absolutely going to be informative and.. i hope helpful hehe
1. Thrifting Girl Scout. Bring a small bag that could fit enough of your necessities like your wallet/coin purse, eco bags (becuase thrift shops do not provide paper bags with handles), bottled water (para ka kasing nag workout after), alcohol/baby wipes (to clean hands), fan/pamaypay (pag haggard ka na sa init), face mask (for those who’re allergic to dust).
2. Budget Boundaries. Set a certain budget and be committed to it, i mean it. You wouldn't want to overspend your hard earned money on thrift shopping. So, you better stick into a budget like if you have a thousand pesos probably spend just half of it and i tell you, you could get at least 4-6 items for 500php and you’re done.. but of course make sure you’re happy with what you got!
3. Dress Fit Ready. This tip kind of depends on the person if she would prefer to wear a looser top or a more fitted one as long as the pants are either leggings or jeggings. Shoes must be comfy enough because expect that you’d be walking and standing around like crazy! This tip applies to instances wherein you’d be fitting clothes in ukay-ukay stores and we all know that you don’t have to go all-out when trying on some clothes for hygienic purposes and to avoid strangers peaking at you in the dressing room! YUP strange
4. Look Outside of the Box. Do not just depend on your instincts in the Ladies section! Because that graphic H&M tee and that Burberry flannel that you’ve been looking for is in the Men’s section waiting of yah!
5. There’s No Harm in Trying. Don’t be lazy to try them on! Thats the purpose of wearing body-hugging clothes, para di bulky every time you try on something on; because yes you have to overlap :) Pro tip: Don’t buy clothes that you’re unsure on how it will look like on you.
6. Be Smart, Choose Wisely. 1.) Another pro tip! Thrift shops are there to save you from buying coats and denims in branded actual stores because (let’s be real) yeeeees they’re soon nice… but its friggin hhhhhhhexpensive!!! I dunno if ganun lang ba talaga ako katyaga maghanap or what, but i usually score pieces that are so close to what i’ve been eyeing in stores and sometimes it’s even better! …..AND BEYOND HAFFORDABLE! haha. So, if you do not own a basic denim jacket yet in your wardrobe and planning to have one soon.. you know where to go, girl!
2.) If super dami mong napili by the end of your thrift session and (back to #2) you’ve exceeded your budget (OO, need mo icompute yan lahat by yourself before heading to the counter), keep the pieces that you think are basic clothing necessities, too expensive in actual stores, and that you think is quirky, interesting and One of a Kind.
7. Quality and Quantity. That army jacket worth 1,800php at H&M is soon cool, let me try it on.. ohhhh my gosh i love how it fits me omg i love the quality.. kaso studyante palang ako.. *goes thrifting* *saw a similar army jacket* *same quality/better!* *(felt lucky) saw that the brand was L.O.G.G. by H&M* *saw the price is 380 pesos* Success!! Yup guys, that scenario was real. No joke. Yes, it’s magical. hahahahah
Aaaaaaaand that. is. it! Hope this post had helped you guys at some point. Thrift shopping will always be fun for me and that’s why now i’m share it with you guys!
See you again on my next post! ;)
