Are we taking the best steps to a healthier planet and environment?

The European Commission is calling for an end to fast fashion by 2030, as it announced a vast expansion of eco-design rules that could in future apply to any product, starting with textiles.

The EU executive also wants large companies to disclose how much unsold stock they send to landfill, as part of a wide-ranging plan to crack down on throwaway culture.

The EU environment commissioner, Virginijus Sinkevičius, said the commission wanted fast fashion “to get out of fashion”, saying: “By 2030 textiles placed on the EU market should be long-lived and recyclable, made to a large extent of recycled fibres.”

In an effort to reduce beauty packaging, many brands are redeveloping the refill system. However, a key hurdle when it comes to refillable beauty products is that it can only work for some kind of products. For example, it is easy to refill a shampoo or a body wash, but when it comes to skincare products like serums or masks, it can be difficult to refill thanks to their formulation. With makeup, a blush that you get through can be swapped in, but concealers that are housed in tubes can't be.

Do you ever buy from Charity shops? I love it as there are often vintage finds to be found. However today it was the hubster who was in look as I found two pair of work trousers and a work jacket hidden among the racks. Even better was that they were all brand new too and the cost of all three was less than one item would have cost me from Amazon! The average customer spends just over £4.00! 💰Charity retail is the biggest source of volunteer opportunities in the UK, with 230,000 people currently volunteering in the sector. 💰Last year charity retail contributed over £295m to charitable causes. 💰23,000 staff are employed in the charity retail sector – stable and sustainable local jobs. 💰Charity shops help to attract footfall to high streets and keep them thriving. 💰 As a result of charity retail, the UK’s carbon emissions were cut by nearly seven million tonnes in 2017. By observation, Kreation is the classic case for using the “It takes too much time and efforts to care about waste.” When the business first opened stores in Los Angeles area, they offered $1 credit for every glass bottles returned (as seen in first picture). However, they are now selling products in single-use plastic bottles which don’t even have CA CRV logo on them (as seen in second picture), that means the empty bottles will not be accepted at Recycling stations.
