Eco Bricks: Created by the Life Unwrapped community
A new venture
I recently started a company called teeshirts4causes. The whole premise is that every t-shirt collection will have different causes that they are meant to raise money for and bring awareness to. This is something I’ve long wanted to do because I want to be successful in business but I also want to make a difference. And I have a belief that in order to be successful in the future of business there has to be a solid desire to make a positive impact on society. Let me elaborate.
Previously, a business could simply provide a service and that was enough for consumers. Now businesses have to be social corporations and serve a purpose greater than just providing a service. Consumers want companies to stand for something and want products to mean more than just something bought. This new age is called conscious consumerism. Consumers are holding brands accountable and closely monitoring what businesses are doing. The sole purpose of businesses is no longer to create profit for shareholders. It has now shifted to creating value for stakeholders and making a positive impact on the world.
So I am building a company on that premise. I want to make a difference and this is how I have decided to do so. The company is a for profit company because it will enable me to do more in the future and eventually give more to the community. You can find my website at www.teeshirts4causes.com. There have been some hiccups on the way and I am currently battling shipping issues, due to the whole pandemic we are in, but I am expecting the first collections of shirts to be at my doorstep on Thursday and I will begin shipping them out that day.
So I will be writing in this blog about my experience with running this business and also my thoughts on the expansion of Conscious Consumerism. So if these things interest you give me a follow, and message me if you are interested in getting involved. (Also you can use the code calistrong at checkout in order to get 15% off our order).

The Zero Waste Movement is an eco-culture of individuals and social groups who recognise the importance of locating and purchasing ethical and sustainable products, and limiting their contribution to waste, intending to cut their consumption from the source. Plastic production has increased from 2.3 million tons in 1950, to 448 million tons by 2015. In only the past 15 years have we produced half…

Spending this #caturday morning doing my favorite things: drinking iced coffee, reminiscing about high school with my roommate and enjoying the beautiful space we call home. Flowers are gifts we hung to dry; blanket was a birthday gift from a friend’s travels; drawing was made by a friend; ladder, sofa and cat were all #secondhand 😸😸 surround yourself with the things that bring you joy and you’ll live a happy life 😊😊 • • • #zerowaste #lowimpactmovement #wastefree #trashfree #plasticfree #nowaste #notrash #noplastic #reduce #reuse #recycle #repurpose #ecofriendly #sustainable #gogreen #yayforearth #reducewhatyouproduce #ourplanetourhome #zerowastecollective #vegan #vegansofig #whatveganseat #catsofinstagram #apartment #slowliving #consciousconsumerism #shopsecondhand #adoptdontshop (at Brooklyn, New York)

This lovely image from BeZero.org perfectly sums up my major goals for 2017, which are:
Simplifying my belongings so that the only things in my home are things that are useful and/or provide value to my life
Learning to eat and cook wholesome (and yummy!) meals
To continue learning how to make better buying decisions and more importantly for me, how to repair.
To help myself stick to these goals I’ll be posting every so often to discuss my progress or challenges and I’ll also be posting anything that I find relevent or strikes my fancy :) Cheers and Happy New Year!!!
Stumbled across this pyramid recently and thought it perfectly summed up the #zerowaste mindset. While many people think that adopting this lifestyle is more expensive, I've found it to be the opposite since I don't really buy that much stuff. Placing value in the things you already have is what minimalism is all about 🙌🏼 •• #Repost @doyourbit.uk with @repostapp ・・・ Zero waste isn't all about plastic ♻ It's about being a conscious consumer. Nowadays, we're surrounded by advertising convincing us that we NEED something when truth is, we don't. Start by using what you have, borrow the things you only use a few times a year, swap products with friends or family, visit a charity shop, make it if you can and lastly, buy it 💷 #doyourbit #zerowaste #consumerism #consciousconsumerism #beaware #borrow #swap #thrift #charityshop #make #handmade #buy #ethical #ecofriendly #sustainable #saynotoplastic #nowaste #notrash #noplastic #wastefree #trashfree #trashisfortossers #reduce #reuse #recycle #repurpose #gogreen #sustainable #sustainableliving
