"i told the guards no visitors, and what do they do? let you on by." of course they would - because this is a public space on shared property, though most of his staff usually chalks up his histrionic requests to him being in his usual soured mood. the crack that parts his lips could be considered a contrast to the typical rumors that surround him, though. too bad for the person in front of him, they don't know they've just stumbled upon one of the spanish king's challenges. "let me ask you this. what do you call something that has a tail and a head, but no body?"

"love, love, love -" blah, blah, blah... the hungarian queen sounds so juvenile just mocking her suitors as they finally leave her quarters. she can finally sigh & complain without being scolded. "that's all anyone cares about, pawning me off in some unholier than thou union. you know what i think-" she lurches forward to reach the tray next to her end table, wrapping her fingers around the opposite end of a butter knife to extend it toward to her company. "go on, take it and stab me right underneath here. free me from these speeches. you'd be doing me a service."

"Greengrass, with me." With a flick of his wand, Cassius covered his face with his mask, the smirk lingering around his mouth vanishing behind it. This is what they had been waiting for, though part of did admire the boldness of the strike. The Order could be commended for that, if nothing else, if not for being smart enough to know to die quietly, like the wounded animals in the wood they were. Never mind that. Cassius was not opposed to putting wounded animals out of their misery personally. Then, a hint of surprise. It was not simply a rescue attempt, but an escape. The hostages were out. Someone had fucked that up, he thought, feeling now more of a sense of urgency. He turned to Philippa, a protege of his, a pet project - though she was not an obvious choice for it, in a sense, weak - still, she had potential. He could remake her. "How's your Cruciatus curse coming along? I see some uninvited guests you can practice on." @thrustfists

"  she  tacks  on  with  a  shrug  .

"  her  majesty  isn't  giving  you  too  much  trouble  ,  is  she  @thrustfists  ?  "  the  baron  starts  ,  brow  furrowed  .  even  as  the  words  '  her  majesty  '  leave  him  ,  he  notes  how  odd  they  are  on  his  tongue  ,  as  if  he's  speaking  a  language  he  doesn't  know  yet  .  hopefully  that  sensation  would  pass  in  time    .  "  if  she  has  ,  i'll  be  sure  to  have  a  few  words  with  her  .  "  the  baron  continues  ,  grinning  widely  after  a  beat  to  show  he's  joking  —  mostly  ,  anyway  .  hugo  knows  fully  well  that  his  sister  can  be  …  a  lot  ,  even  on  a  good  day  .

as  the  music  swells  ,  progressing  into  a  livelier  tune  ,  the  japanese  royal  advisor  watches  as  people  filter  toward  the  middle  of  the  room  ,  a  twisted  mix  of  fascination  and  disgust  bubbling  within  her  .  "  will  you  not  dance  as  well  ?  "  she  asks  @thrustfists  from  over  the  rim  of  her  glass  .  though  nothing  in  particular  jumps  out  at  suzume  as  cause  to  think  so  ,  the  young  woman  gives  the  impression  of  being  the  sort  who  enjoys  dancing  .  "  had  i  known  dancing  would  be  involved  ,  i  might  have  dressed  for  the  occasion  ,  "  a  bitter jest  ,  despite  her  serious  tone  .  obsidian  hues  fall  to  her  furisode  ,  far  too  restrictive  for  any  of  the  dances  she's  seen  this  evening  .  but  it's not  like  she's  in  any  mood  to  dance  in  the  first  place  .

"Hey, man." Jasper spoke, clearly just comfortably drunk. "I know this is a weird question, but, I've got to ask." A lazily piloted index finger poked against the strawberry that was wedged neatly into the side of his cocktail glass. "Do people actually eat the fruit? Or is it just there for show? I mean, I love strawberries, but, I don't want to be that guy, y'know?"
