"Dave, someone in my life is conducting behavior I don't agree with, how can I change their mindset?" Great question. The truth is you can never change someones mind for them, you can only influence them and guide them. Controlling someone should never be the goal, as no one should be controlled. And you need to ask yourself if what they're doing honestly affects your life, as if it doesn't you need to invest that energy into what does. Also, just because you may not agree with someone's lifestyle doesn't warrant you the right to change it. I understand that the behavior they're conducting is not illegal or harmful to their health, thus, this is only them going against what you believe. And that is 100% their right. This is a moment where you should consider that you don't have the right to dictate others and how they live. If their lifestyle goes against your beliefs, live and let live. I promise you there's aspects of your life many don't agree with, and if they approached you and demanded you to change you would ignore their request. The same goes for you towards them. The mindset that needs to be altered here is yours, 100%. The less time you focus on trying to control others can be used to propel your future. When you spend your time trying to dictate others you lose opportunity to create opportunity for your life. Not to mention the negativity you are allowing in your life while you hate what they do. Focus only on what YOU can control, and this is your Focus, choices, time, mindset, and life. And remember you don't have the right to try and control others. If their behavior isn't a risk for their life or yours, let them be. Guide. Support. Understand. That's our roles to the lifestyle choices of others, and regardless if it's a belief you like or not, live and let live. Some of these choices are truly not choices. Once again. Guide. Support. Understand. #coachdmboddy #trainharderthanyoudream #THTYD (at Calgary, Alberta)
