1998, Lt. Surge (マチス Matis) the Gym Leader of Vermilion City by Ken Sugimori for the expansion Gym Heroes (ジム拡張第1弾 リーダーズスタジアム), scanned by us and Linkdu83 and enhanced by FLECKABEN!
Can’t say a lot now. Having a burn out.
Pikachu vs Luke Skywalker
Oh this is a tough one because Pikachu has the (Force) Lightning, Thunder Punch, he has Iron Tail, he has Quick Attack, and he has Growl to lower the opponent’s defenses. And we already know Luke the Jedi is weak against Lightning, and Pikachu is so fuckin cute that Luke probably wouldn’t attack first. He would try to turn Pikachu back to the Light (I’m assuming Pikachu is a Bad Guy if he’s attacking my Jedi).
So…I’m gonna have to say Pikachu is gonna win this fight. Sorry Mr. Skywalker, doesn’t mean I love you any less.
Raichu appreciation gifset :3
Here are some Thunder Badge earrings! (: Get Them Here!
Next up in this series is, of course, the Thunder Badge! As far as electric badges go, I find it interesting that this one looks more like an explosion or a sunburst than a thunderbolt--it really speaks more to Lt. Surge’s military history than to his preference for electric pokemon.
As usual, I compared the anime and game versions to come up with my interpretation of this badge. For some reason, the anime version really rounds out this badge and makes it look almost flower-like, while the game badge has a more square/diamond shape and pointed edges as I’ve done here. This is also the first badge in the series that makes use of two colors instead of one, so I tried to subtly capture that aspect through a radial gradient.
