Thunder Bird Hills: "Yeti in the Snow" Visual Report

Contributor Kei embarks on a new adventure with a different friend. They went to Mt. Daisen in Tottori, searching for snow.

A snow storm set in and they decided to melt snow on the mountain top using their Jetboil. Coffee is a great morale booster in the face of tough weather.

Thunder Bird Hills: Wolf Hut Visual Report

As Japan is plunged into winter the Thunder Bird Hills brother set out to Nara in search of snow.

As the day progresses, the temperature begins to rise and the snow seems to begin melting.

As the day went on the weather begun to get increasingly bad and they made the decision to take refuge in a nearby hut. The two-storey building is in a beautiful location with a river flowing next to it. It's name is Ookamidaira (Ookami meaning wolf) and they found it a great place to get away from the elements.

Thunder Bird Hills: Suzuka Mountain adventure

The TBH brothers set off for Mt.Oike of Suzuka Mountain.

The brothers love the cold season as, for them, it's where their adventures really begin. Suzuka is not a famous mountain, but it is quiet and beautiful, and importantly it is somewhere where they can enjoy some bushcraft activities, including a bonfire.

They found their Helinox chair a little heavy to carry, but very comfortable and despite the bit of extra weight, they do recommend it.
