(1/2)When I pet my cat along her back (mostly lower back), she tenses up and sometimes she threatens to bite me (opening her mouth and jerking her head towards me). This happens when I've stroked her 1-3 times, with no signs of over stimulation beforehand. Is it possible she's in pain, or just doesn't like being touched there? I got her in February of this year, and I've only really noticed this in the past few months. She's indoors, fixed, and had an appointment right after I got her so if it's
pain the cause would have been more recent. I think she's about 4, but the spca didn't know since she was a stray. I've done a few google searches, but everything was inconclusive. I'm really worried about her. I'm taking her to a vet regardless, but I'm just hoping you have some insight. Thank you for running this blog <3
I obviously can’t tell you for sure, but it sounds like it could definitely be caused by pain if it’s abnormal and doesn’t seem to be related to over-stimulation. Get her checked out by a vet to be sure (and I’d get someone to video the behavior before you go in, in case she shuts down in the vet office that they don’t get to see it).

On Gender Euphoria
I can’t believe tumblr ate half of my asks twice. At least this gives me an opportunity to go a little more in depth about Gender Euphoria, haha.
The most basic definition is to be happy as your gender (chosen or assigned). It is something cis people feel automatically, their gender is validated socially (people using correct pronouns etc), physically (they’re genitals are ‘right’), and mentally (when they think of themselves as their assigned gender, they’re content with it).
For trans people, Gender Euphoria is a little harder to achieve, but manifests itself in similar ways as it does for cis people (but instead of feeling good as their assigned gender, they feel good as their chosen gender). The actual feeling of Gender Euphoria might be a little more intense for trans people than cis people, simply because trans people were not always validated as their gender their whole life while cis people were.
Just as Dysphoria can be physical, mental, or social, so can Euphoria. Not to mention, Dysphoria isn’t a prerequisite for Euphoria. They can be totally separate things.
Here’s an example:
John was assigned male at birth. He is completely fine with being called a man, and people using he/him pronouns. One day he decides to try on dresses, and soon discovers that he is much happier when people call him a woman and use she/her pronouns. She decides to choose the name Jane, and eventually goes on HRT. While she wasn’t uncomfortable with the way her body was before, she feels a lot happier after being on HRT for years. This is an example of a trans woman who experiences no Dysphoria, but experiences Euphoria after transitioning.
This is my own experience with it:
I have experienced Physical Dysphoria for a good chunk of my life. I’m AFAB, and was perfectly fine with being seen as female and people using she/her pronouns for me. I thought there was no way I could be trans since I had no desire to be a man and I was fine with being a woman. Then I discovered NB identities, and found that one fit me well. When people use my pronouns and respect the fact that I’m non-binary, I feel validated and happy…but I’m not too badly put off when people don’t (unless they already know and aren’t making the mistake for my safety). I experience Physical Dysphoria and Social/Mental Euphoria.
Here are some sources for this I’ve found from a quick google search in case anyone wants to read more about it!

Most likely to accidentally adopt a cat
Omfg!!
Elena would be the most likely holy shit! Honestly, sometimes she acts like a massive cat so they probably just flock to her like she’s their mother or something :’)
Elsa Cousland, she always wanted a cat... as long as Titus behaves
