August 1 2018 - A woman antagonises demonstrators and tries to tear up a poster calling for Justice for Thurman Blevins, and gets punched in the face. She goes to the cops literally crying “I didn’t do anything!”.

so gun-lovers are going to complain that their rights are being taken away when theres the population of people out there that want guns gone, but when a man who happens to be black has a gun in his possession, he needs it taken away and he is immediately a threat? That the first response to a black man holding a gun is to shoot? Like what the fuck? HES A FUCKING PERSON TOO. HE DESERVES THE SAME TREATMENT AS EVERYONE ELSE.  I was just watching the news and they were talking about Thurman Blevins, a man who was shot in the back just because he was holding a gun. The second the cops saw him from their car they started shouting at him. THE FIRST THING THE COP SAYS TO THE MAN IS “PUT YOUR FUCKING HANDS UP”. I will bet my LIFE that if it was a white man holding a gun the cops would’ve calmly walked up to the guy and asked him kindly why he had the gun and etc. But just because Thurman was black, they started shouting and I bet he was scared. Because black people fear the cops. Even if they aren’t doing anything wrong, they are scared. Because of their skin color, SOMETHING THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER, they have targets on them.  

The cops continued to SCREAM at Thurman and curse at him. Thurman was BEGGING these cops not to shoot him as he ran away from them. He was SCARED. 

Know his name. Thurman Blevins. Thurman Blevins. Thurman Blevins. 

He’s one of the many innocent black people that have been shot and killed by cops. 

I also want to bring up another thing. It’s something I heard from someone, and they told me that instead of actual guns, cops should be using this gun(forgot the name) that when shot at someone, does hurt them and “paralyze” them, but does not kill them. We need to stop using weapons that are meant to kill, especially when its your fucking job to serve the people and keep EVERYONE safe. 

I could say so much more. I want to scream and yell this is so frustrating. Why are people attacking and hating on other fucking human beings? Why does their skin color mean so much to you? Why does the fact that they don’t live the same exact way as you matter? That they don’t have the same beliefs? Honestly you racist assholes need to grow the fuck up. Stop being fucking children and understand that black people are humans too. God I can’t believe I actually have to say that.

Police release body cam footage of black man shot in back while running from officers

'Please don't shoot me,' man yells during police chase

The officers pull up to a curb where Mr Blevins is sitting with a woman. One officer identifies the man as armed, and the two run out of the car screaming: “Put your f***ing hands up”.

Mr Blevins turns and runs, setting off a less than one-minute foot chase. Several times, an officer tells Mr Blevins: “I will f***ng shoot you”.

“Why?” Mr Blevins asks repeatedly. “I didn't do nothing, bro.”

Later, he says: “Please don’t shoot me.”

Approximately 30 seconds into the chase, Mr Blevins pulls what appears to be a gun out of his pocket. The officers fire, and Mr Blevins falls to the ground.

An autopsy report found Mr Blevins was shot multiple times. Investigators said both officers fired their weapons.

Thurman Blevins

A 911 call reported that a possibly drunk man was firing his gun off in a residential area. Police responded and arrived on the scene. They identified Blevins as the suspect described in the 911 call, they also identify that he is armed. The police confront him and demand he put his hands in the air. Blevins then proceeds to flee from the officers. They pursue him on foot and demand that he stop running and to put his hands up. Blevins continues to flee while yelling at the officers to not shoot him and to leave him alone. The officers then chase him down an alley and Blevins turns and pulls his gun on the pursuing officers. Blevins is then shot dead by the officers as he discharges his firearm.

This was not murder. This was an unfortunate event that could have been avoided if Blevins had complied with the officer's orders. He had plenty of chances to give up and let them arrest him but he did not. Thurman Blevins was a felon with 6 convictions, one of those convictions was for being a felon with a pistol. He was drunk in public firing his illegally owned gun in a residential area. When he pulled his gun on the officers he discharged his weapon.

The police in question are not racist murderers. They did not show up with the intent to gun down an innocent black man. They came to investigate a potentially dangerous situation in which a man who appeared to be drunk was firing his gun. Calling for their arrest and making vague threats at a press conference if you don't get your way is not the response that this incident should have received. The man you are calling innocent, the man you are demanding justice for, he should not be dead. He should be in prison. Unfortunately his own actions caused his death and arguing against that just shows how deluded you are. This was not about race, this was not a murder, this was a justified police shooting.

Prosecutors said officers acted lawfully when they shot Thurman Blevins. Body camera footage of the shooting did little to change competing views of the events.

This is disgusting. He was murdered. Thurman Blevins was shot while running away.
