when dean wakes up, the floor beneath him is cold, skull throbbing with a thousand
stabbing pains. he tries to open his eyes but even the dim light offered is too much
and they flutter shut again; to an outsider he would look asleep. the only outsides in
the room with him, however, are busy talking -- about him ? he can’t quite hear ----
but there are only two voices and he thinks briefly, if he weren’t so groggy, he could
take them down.
taking this moment to figure out just what the HELL is going on, dean keeps his eyes
shut to feign sleep. he remembers being at home, alone, without sam. he remembers
making dinner for only one and avidly looking away from his brother’s empty bed as
he prepared for sleep. dean didn’t complain to the nation. how could he ? it would be
selfish of him to attempt to keep sam from the nation, to try and prevent his brother
from ‘ fulfilling his destiny ’ -- because it was selfish to fear that soldiers would take
his brother away and never give him back.
dean remembers the evening being lonely and the night even more so, but the sound
of broken glass interrupted his sleep and a figure loomed in the darkness. dean had
tried to fight him; every single feint, dodge and tackle his father had taught him was
put to the test, but judging by the state dean’s in now, it didn’t work. he doesn’t even
remember getting knocked out.
the voices have stopped now, and dean assumes himself alone, enough so to open
his eyes a second time and take in his surroundings. dimly lit, musty smelling and
chilling in more ways than just the temperature, dean already hates what he sees --
and that’s before he notices the bars that line his walls. he’s been imprisoned.
his voice is hoarse when he speaks, yet it echoes across stone walls nonetheless.
‘ s’anyone there ? ’
