Advent Advice: Day 24
"Sometimes you don’t need advice from someone else, not really - you need to let yourself sit quietly and ask the real question, and let yourself give the real answer.”
-Rachel, “Three Things I’ve Learned About Dealing with Life from Giving Advice on the Internet”
final JoH thoughts, for myself and anyone else who cares:
sort of a shame that I did it after Descent, bc I kept comparing it to how much better I liked the way Descent was laid out.
JoH is more like the rest of the game--just a massive area with lots of side quests and a main quest that has to be pieced together, and I found that piecing process kind of annoying--I wasn’t always really sure what I was supposed to be doing or if each new step was going to be unexpectedly difficult.
Terrain was also really annoying with the shit way the tactical camera works. Sometimes in really difficult battles there were a bunch of obstructions and levels and it was fucking impossible to get everyone doing what I wanted.
Started at level 19 on hard difficulty (going for the achievement so I couldn’t lower the difficulty) and really struggled (not even like...long, difficult battles--like, enemies can take out your entire party in .01 second), but leveled up very quickly, which was nice. Would prob wait for level 20 to start in the future, but I need a long break from it, anyway bc it annoyed the shit out of me hahaha.
I much preferred Descent’s immersive feel--that everything you did was connected and the side quests aren’t confusing or distracting.
But I loved getting to hang out with Scout Harding so that makes up for a lot.
