what are your headcanons on the atreides?

OKay i have a LOT and they don't all makes sens. I'm including thyeste and Pelopia hcs even if they're technically not Atreides

tw rape/incest as usual when talking abt this family

-Thyestes had 3 children: Pelopia who is the daughter of a Nymph, Tantalus and Orchomenus whom he had from Aerope (Atreus wife) . Tantalus and Orchonemus were killed by Atreus at the banquet

-Atreus wasn't a very good father. First, he was extremely paranoid, believing someone (Thyestes) would seize power from him. This is the reason he took revenge again on Thyeste during the banquet —to get revenge and move on. After discovering the affair between Aerope and Thyestes, he started to hate Agamemnon/Menelaus, because he couldn't be sure they were his sons and not Thyestes'. (Not Anaxibia because she was born a few years after Thyestes got exiled.

-Atreus tought that Aegistus was his son - tho pelopia know it's not the case

-The reason Atreus got married to pelopia was because he wanted a descendant he was sure wasn’t Thyestes’s. Pelopia never told him abt the rape-ofc. Atreus left her alone after Aegistus was born. In fact he really didn’t cared abt her and they didn’t really interacted the years after .

-Atreus never knew Pelopia was his niece and Pelopia never told him (ofc.let's remember the guy killed her brothers) (in the original version I read Atreus married pelopia thinking was Thesprotus' daughter so it makes sens)

-Atreus killed Aerope just before the banquet.

-Menelaus and Agaemmnon are kinda traumatized by meat. Especially Menelaus. Thyeste probably became a vegetarian after the banquet ig

-When Pelopia got married to Atreus, Anaxibia was so young that Pelopia basically raised her along with Aegistus. Anaxibia got no memories of her mother Aerope.

-Mene and Agamemnon relationship is built on the fear that their relationship will someday end up like atreus and thyestes. If they have a fight, they (especially Menelaus) will try their best to find an agreement.

- Electra developed an idealized image of her father during her childhood. Clytemnestra constantly described their father as a bad man, so Electra imagined him to be exactly the opposite, purely out of a spirit of opposition (and also to feel better about all that was happening). This was not the case for Orestes, probably because he had had a rather decent childhood, while Electra had been left alone with Clytemnestra when she was at her worse .

-When Iphigenia came back home (i'm following Euripides version in the play Iphigenie in tauride for this one) her relation with her other siblings was a bit tense for a long time. Espiecially with Electra- they both have a really different vision of their parents

-Pelopia loves cats !! !!  At the time she was priestess she was feeding half of the cats of the region.

-Electra is tall asf like her dad 

-Electra is a mix of cly and ag, oreste looks like cly for some reasons, iphigenia is the one looking the most like Agamemnon and Chrysotemis huuuh idk 

-Agamemnon looks like his mom

Talking about the atreides so tw rape incest ect

So yeah he is an asshole as an adult but have you ever thought about his birth and childhood because that makes me feel a little bad for him.

Aegistus is born to fulfill a prophecy. He is the product of Thyestes hate and desire for revenge of Thyestes 

Let's remember that he was 7 years old when Pelopia and Atreus died. Atreus sent him to go kill Thyestes , then Thyeste reveals himself as the father of Aegisthus. Pelopia- Aegisthus’ mother- kills herself in front of her kid and father. Then, just after, Aegistus follows Thyeste's order and goes to kill Atreus.

What is really interesting is the way Aegistus doesn't question what Thyeste is saying, and immediately goes to kill Atreus - the man who raised him and who he thinks is his biological father in some version.

Aegistus embraces the curse. He is the direct product of it. The product of Thyestes decision to rape his own daughter - just to be sure someone will avenge him of what Atreus did. 

The way Aegistus is sometimes represented as a more feminine role is also interesting- he comes to take the throne after Clytemnestra but let her do the hard work (in some version, like the Oresteia or Euripides’ or Seneca’s plays, not in homer works for example) . But he is the one pushing Clytemnestra to do the murders. He is partially deprived of a good number of heroic qualities and will be later represented as androgynious or effeminate 

If Thyestes is using the curse to justify the awful action he is doing to obtain the power (cf the play Agamemnon of Seneca) , Pelopia just a way to let the curse spread, something the curse hurt on its way - a collateral victim- Aegistus is the embodiment of the curse, not running nor hiding for it but doing the thing as he is supposed to do for the beginning, according to thyestes's will : the eradication the atreides .

He is bound to hate and inter-familials fight from his conception.

I HATE HIM VERY MUCH.

He had some valid reason to be angry at Atreus but OMFG why would you rape your own daughter just to be sure to get revenge . Just grab a knife and kill Atreus already I DONT KNOW ???

Also the other day I was telling the entire house of atreus lore to one of my friends and I realized this man have been exiled of the same city like 3 times and i think it's funny

also he killed chryssipus and stuff wich isn't very nice.
