“H-hey Adrien.” Her voice was incredibly soft as she knelt at the slab of stone where he’d been ‘buried’ (or the stone for his body, anyway).
“I…I never really got t-to talk to you, when you were alive. I always wanted to…b-but things never really worked out…and by the time I did get to talk to you…it was at the execution.” She shuddered at those words, as if trying to keep the memories away.
“…anyway, I just wanted to say…I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve this…it really was just an accident.” She placed the flowers she’d brought on his and Sonia’s graves, barely able to hold back the tears. “I h-hope y-you’re tr-treating h…her well…wh-wherever you are now…”
It was surprising just how quiet you could sob when you didn’t want others to find you.
