MEET TICARA, LA-BASED KAKE BRAND AMBASSADOR.
1. WHAT DO YOU DO?
I like to call myself a multimedia journalist since I can cover everything on my own as a journalist from shooting and editing to writing. I also do social media content management for other brands and companies. I graduated from Full Sail University in August of 2013 with my MA in New Media Journalism and I received my BA in Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago.
2. How did you discover KAKE? What do you like about the company so far?
I discovered KAKE through a good friend of mine, Na’el Shehade. He told me that he was working on a company with a young lady by the name of Kellen. When he started telling me what the company would be about I knew he had a winning recipe. I love how interactive KAKE is on social media with it’s followers and other brands. KAKE actually has a voice and that’s what’s needed heading into the new age of online businesses.
3. Where do you hope to be in 10 years?
Wow, I never think that far ahead…Maybe I should more often. I think in 10 years I hope to be settled in life and continuing to help build a brand. I definitely want an office in someone’s record label or media company. I want to be running things without having to work my fingers to the bone if you know what I mean.
4. IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE ARTIST/BRAND TO WORK WITH WHO WOULD IT BE? WHY?
I would love to work with TDE, Top Dawg Entertainment. I chose them because I love the work ethic of the company and the artists that they represent. They are cool in such an effortless way. Plus, all of their talent is actually talented. I think they will definitely be around for a long time.
5. DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO DO YOU VIE TO EMULATE IN YOUR DAILY OR WORKING LIFE?
Tough question… I don’t know think there’s someone out there specifically that I want to emulate in my daily or working life but I draw inspiration from all sorts of people. I love what Oprah has stood for her entire career. Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil inspire me. There’s so many people that I draw inspiration from that I cannot just chose one person because there’s something about everyone that I can draw inspiration from.
6. Let’s throw it back to the first day of school- name two truths and a lie.
I started playing piano in the 4th grade.
I interned with Warner Music Group.
I performed at the opening of Millennium Park.
7. What tools do you find essential in your life?
Technically, I need my iPhone, Macbook, Good Internet connection, and Microsoft Word in my life. But, overall I would say love is an essential tool in my life. I wouldn’t be doing any of this if I didn’t love it.
8. In 2014 I hope to _______
...be successful and let the world know I have arrived.
9. What do you hope to get out of your experience with KAKE?
Through my KAKE experience I hope to learn how to connect with other brands and develop business ideas and partnerships. I think KAKE is a great platform for me to bond with people who have similar interests and goals in life. With KAKE, I want to take over the world…or at least the US. LOL
10. Favorite song of the moment:
My favorite song at the moment is “LGOYH” by Kwes. I fell in love with song while in a studio session in LA with Jean Baptiste. He does this thing were he listens to songs that embody the emotions that he wants the songwriters to be inspired by. I think I listen to that song every morning and a cool fact about it is that Pusha T’s “Who I Am” samples it.
