It was quiet in the small dark room, only the soft light from the forgotten TV left with static on. Whatever movie all since ended. The two boys fallen asleep in tangled into each other, one of the few moments the two boys found peace.
One of the boys stirred in his sleep, pulling his eyes open. It was dark and hard to see for the boy as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. His impaired vision making the room look fuzzy as well. He pulled himself out of the other boy’s arms.
As he sat up the crawling under his sick started; He could feel it in his neck the itching feeling crawling up to the side of his scalp. He couldn’t help to bring his hand up to scratch at his scalp with his sharp nails. It was almost violent, if he went any hard the boy’s scalp would start bleeding.
The boy beside him cracked his eyes open only barely to see that his other half was no longer laying on him, he could hear the violent itching.
“Henry...” He called out in a groggy voice,
The boy still laying in bed reached out to grab Henry’s arm that was itching at his skin. He pulled his arm away from Henry’s head. He could already see the blood under Henry’s long nails. He always hated watching the boy rip and tear at his own skin but how do you even stop someone when they always feel itchy from some unreal bugs.
“To..Toby..” Henry called out quietly, He didn’t fight against Toby pulling his arm away.
“Come back...Come lay down...” Toby still sounded groggy and barely awake, He honestly just wanted Henry to lay down again. Sleeping was the best way to stop Henry and honestly Toby loved sleeping with him, his soft snores helped him fall asleep and his weight on top of him made him feel safe.
“I can feel them...” Henry said quietly, His voice sounded sad and weak.
Toby knew what he was talking about. The bugs are back and crawling, Toby would never call them fake or correct Henry about them.
Toby tugged at Henry again to pull him down.
“You can itch at me until you fall asleep.” Toby offered.
Sometimes just the action of scratching can help Henry; It was a placebo effect honestly but it worked. It always left Toby riddled with new scratches and scars but in his eyes it was worth it. Toby tugged Henry down once more before Henry layed his head back down on Toby’s chest. Toby offered Henry his arm laying it down close to him. It didn’t take long for the boy to start scratching at Toby’s arm causing redness to surface; not like it matter since Toby couldn’t feel pain.
It took less then an hour before Henry fell back to sleep. Toby feel asleep even faster. The two returning to peaceful slumber.
