She watched the faded dragon swirl around her, sniffing her curiously, a few low growls escaping but did nothing more but look onward. Morgana, though, watched Nami’s expression closely, making sure she was not startled. But when Nami pointed to the palace behind her, she looked over her shoulder as well. 

“Yes. That is my home.” She smiled, admiring the palace from afar, looking back to Nami. “And, it is yours as well.” She was not going to let the poor girl live elsewhere, especially not when she held the remains of the dragon within her. Keeping her close was the best option thus far.

Stuff under the cut uuuuuuuuh… Hey, I really enjoy all the fish puns on your blog. Cool. Now stuff under the cut:

I know you mentioned it, but I’ll mention it too.

I hate the culture of feeling like if you’re not here 24/7, you’re going to disappear. It’s extremely easy to feel that way, and if you work a job or you’re doing something else… man. I have the app on my phone and that’s the only way I get by, but still.

But since you’ve already mentioned that, how about something else.

Uuuuuuh… Same vein. I hate how much art matters for keeping people interested. I’m guilty of it. And it’s not fair to artists, because it’s not like they woke up one day and went “I’m going to draw art and that’s how I’ll get popular on tumblr.com! because that’s what matters!”

No one does that.

I’ve drawn five hundred pieces of art for my blog. Five. Hundred.

It’s not because I want to be popular. I’ll tell you that much. But I know that for some people, the only thing that’s attractive about my content is the art that sometimes comes with it. And that’s scummy for everyone. Getting good takes time and it’s frustrating as all hell to be reduced to ‘someone who’s scumming around with art’.

Listen, every artist has their own reasons and I’m not in any position to judge anyone, but this is a writing community. As much as we might love for our art to be appreciated, it’s not all there is to us. But art is a big factor in the community, in who is followed and who isn’t, in what content is attractive and what content isn’t. Because art is easily consumed and eye catching. It doesn’t require any effort to appreciate and it’s easy to miss the hours (and sometimes days or weeks) that go into a piece.

So, from either side, it’s pretty annoying. There’s tons of great people out there who get missed because art, and on the other side, I don’t know that artists started drawing because ‘tumblr popularity’. Getting recognition is important for growth and turning art into a job and everyone has their own viewpoint, but… well, we can’t just clump them all together.

I think @voracites said it best. “If you don’t appreciate my writing, you don’t get to appreciate my art either.” We have feelings and it’s not fun to feel like we’re using a talent we’ve honed through blood, sweat, and tears and hundreds and thousands of hours (500+ drawings for my blogs, remember?) as a tool to win some ego contest. Just as it’s not fun to feel like we’re not respected as more than ‘shiny pretty generators’. And as awful as it is, some people really act like that.

Oh and fuck, it wouldn’t kill people to reblog some art either. I say this on every post, but we’re a community and what’s the harm in seeing a piece of art that someone drew and going “man that’s really cool, let’s show other people!” Is it that harmful to the blog ‘aesthetique’? It’s kind of contradictory to go ‘Yeah, this blog is really cool and I love their art, but I don’t want to show anyone else!’ This is where I would do the ‘stares directly into the camera’ thing.

Yeah, that’s about it on that topic. Artists. Wild.
