I know we are happy we survived the Tae drought, but I think we should mostly be celebrating the fact that he survived through this despite the shock it gave to his system. It's so admirable and I hope he eventually is proud of himself for getting through it.

In regards to Taemin's Guilty concept, I think there is a wider lens to consider when looking at it.

Yes, it is about personal pain and reclaiming dark and ugly parts of himself, but it's also how these parts represent a revolution, his way of revolution. The parallels between Bataille's work and his message are plenty. He knows his eroticism is a source of horror and discomfort to others and maybe to himself, but that's why it's so pleasurable to dive into it. It's the way to shatter the norms of the outside world, but also his inner world.

Eroticism is his look into the dark, into the abyss in a way that permits the reflection of everything underneath the surface and helps bring back to the surface the consciousness of what can usually stay subconscious.

Eroticism is his way of fighting back against everything he believes in while simultaneously embodying everything he (and we) despises. It is a revolution on pain, love and everything in between.

Everyone knew Taemin couldn't be in the military. Like it was the most violent act then to make him enlist.

My thing with people loving Taemin first before SHINee or people who only know Taemin is that they really are missing out on the growth and experience he got from being in SHINee and being around 4 other boys that pushed him to want to be the best on all fronts. The journey of Taemin is only satisfying through the lens of his whole career aka from his pre-debut training to now. No one becomes that successful and outstanding without other people of the equivalent caliber (or close to) surrounding them.

It’s sad but also beautiful how Taemin is becoming more and more like Jonghyun in many ways.
