Rules: find five lines in your WIP that fit the parameters given!
I'm gonna use SOTL Year One for this one! I'm actually gonna focus on Tierney's chapter!
A line about hands
Tierney glanced down at the duvet he was sitting on. He rubbed his hand across it, feeling the familiar static shock. He kept sliding his palm back and forth and back and forth until he heard a crackling sound. He lifted his hand, concentrating as hard as he could, until he saw a spark. He rubbed his hands together until what appeared to be a purple lightning flickered around them. He stood, holding one hand palm-up, curling his fingers inward. A sparking purple ball of electricity had formed in his palm. He laughed giddly, opening his hand slightly so the ball got bigger. His hand shook and the electricity shot upward, blasting Tierney over the bed and causing him to crash onto the floor. Tierney groaned, pushing himself to his feet. The electric blast had burnt a hole through the canopy above his bed and made a small hole in the ceiling.
A line showing pain
Tierney smiled as he grabbed the handle of the dining hall. “Ah! Shite! C’mon, there can’t possibly be more static!”
A line with motion
Tierney scrambled out of bed and practically ran to the door--bare feet sliding on the hardwood floors--threw the door open, and jabbed his finger into Jarred’s side, causing Jarred to let out a rather embarrassing “eep!” as the static shock pierced through his cotton clothes, and he jumped back, almost falling over when his feet slipped on the carpet beneath him. Now it was Tierney’s turn to laugh.
A line I love
“Why are we less mature than our ten-year-old sister?” Tierney asked, sitting up to join his brothers.
“Don’t worry, she’ll mature less when she’s older,” said Jarred, rising to his feet.
A line featuring a person's name
Damari let out a frustrated noise and set the book on the table.
Well that last one was easy.

Tierney has short black hair with long bangs reaching his eyebrows. He's very pale and has bright blue eyes. He's about 5'5 at the start and is in reasonably decent shape.
Very acearo
Tierney is gifted with electricity-based powers. He was always just a little too good at maintaining static on him, and he doesn't have a lot of control over his powers, so he has a tendency to blow things up.
Tierney is human, just one with a mutation.
Character/Personality
Tierney is a nerd; there is no doubt about it. He is fascinated by sciences, especially ones pertaining to magic. Even if he wasn't gifted, he'd probably go into a magical field. Tierney is highly experimental and loves figuring things out on his own, as well as doing intense research hours into the night.
Tierney very specifically likes potions. It's his Thing, though his electricity powers have gotten in the way and caused many experiments to blow up. Still, Tierney intends to become a potions master, and loves inventing his own potions--not just copying from a book.
Tierney does not really understand what exactly the point of most other subjects in school are. Why does he have to analyze a fictional text from a couple hundred years ago when he can make a potion that allows you to memorize the text just by flipping through the pages?
Tierney usually gets very absorbed in his work and himself. He's a touch arrogant when it comes to his skills, though he has a bit of an inferiority complex since his siblings tend to overshadow him. He's not good at making friends, but he doesn't mind them.
Other Notable Things
Tierney is the third-born of the royal family of England.
This means that Tierney is used to dressing really nice.
Tierney's siblings are Ritchie, Jarred, Stevie, Damari, and Carol. He is closest to Stevie.

I've decided to go with more SOTL! Tierney just learned he was gifted with electricity-based powers and was invited to the titular school!
From School of the Legends Year One
When Tierney went back to his room, it took one glance at his potions still spread out along his desk to realize he wasn't in the mood for blowing something up today.
Instead, he just sat on the edge of his four-poster bed, thinking about what that letter had said.
He qualified for a school for the gifted, majicked, and cursed. He was one of the gifted. One of the people his father tended to snear about. Tierney never took those remarks seriously. He was always into magic--obviously, he was working on potions earlier--so he often found himself defending people who were gifted. But he never considered going to a school for magic. He never even considered going to school, for crying out loud--he had tutors come to him. He wasn't against the idea--he could sure get out more and hang around kids around his age that weren’t nobility or related or both. And in America?
This was a chance to show that he was special. He wasn't just the third-born son of the English king who blew things up. He was gifted. He could learn magic and maybe even master potions! He looked at the potions on his desk and smiled. Maybe he could figure out how to not blow things up while he was there.
So much for not wanting to blow something up today.
Tierney was jolted awake that morning in two ways.
The first jolt was from Jarred rapidly knocking on the door to his room. The second was a literal jolt of static shock from the friction his body caused from sliding against both the fitted sheet beneath him, as well as the duvet covering him, when he jumped from the first jolt. He yelped at both, causing Jarred to laugh from outside the door.
Jarred regained his balance and pointed a finger at Tierney as a mock threat. “You’re dead.”
“Not if I kill you first!” Tierney said, jumping out at Jarred, who bolted down the hall. Tierney followed his brother with his hand outstretched, making extra sure to drag his feet on the carpet to keep up the static, even if it slowed his pace. Jarred turned a corner and made an “oof!” sound as he ran into Ritchie--both falling over, causing Tierney to trip over both of them and crash to the ground.
“Agh! Blimey, Tierney, you have a lot of shock on you today,” Ritchie noted as Tierney brushed up against him. Jarred sat up and poked Ritchie. “Ack!” He jumped back. “You, too?”
“Don’t look at me, I got it from him.”
Ritchie gave Tierney’s shoulder a soft push and hissed a swear as he flinched his hand back. “Bloody, Tierney, are you a walking socks-on-the-carpet-during-winter?”
“Sorry,” Tierney shrugged, messing with his hair to make it stand up. “Y’know I can’t help it.”
“That’s a mouthful of a title, Rich,” said Jarred, scooching against the wall.
“Well, what would you call it, then?”
“A walking sack of static?”
“That’s boring.”

Festival Celebration - from The Secret Portal Part One
The snakefly’s wings continued to rapidly beat together, then slowed as if stuck in treacle. It froze midair, dropping to the ground by the forces of gravity.
William let out a sound that would have caused him to flush if anyone was around to witness as he abruptly shot out of his seat. He cleared his throat, though still vibrating from excitement, then called his wife on the comm. “Atsila! Atsila! I did it!”
“What is it, Will? You coming early? Do I have to clean up all this mess in five minutes?” she joked in response to his jubilant celebration.
“I’m not coming to bed, hon. I’m sorry.”
“What—”
“I’ve reached a breakthrough.”
“Good to kn—”
William turned off the comm and continued his work.
Brown - from The Secret Portal Part One (Gwen POV)
“I’m Liam Beaumont.”
“Nice to meet you,” I said, then paused. “Wait, I was told you were the first recruited. How old are you?”
“You were told about me?”
“I gave a quick list of everyone,” Gabriel explained.
“Oh. Well, I’m eighteen.” My mouth dropped unintentionally. Liam sighed, playing with the zipper on his light brown jacket but seeming to find it humorous. “I know, I look eleven. But, like, I’m five-seven and people still think that. It’s not like I’m super short like Tyler.”
Tyler gave Liam a rude gesture.
Paint - from The Secret Portal Part One
“Whoa,” George said, gazing around. There were black and orange streamers and fake cobwebs everywhere and what appeared to be spiderpig webs on every other surface. The lights were dim and the sources of flickering light came from inside pumpkins with faces carved out of them. A couple tables were pushed against the wall with candy and punch. Spooky music played in the background, and George and Carla weren’t sure they liked how it made them feel, but it certainly fit the mood.
Tyler walked up to them, his black hair slicked back and wearing fake pointy teeth. Red paint dripped down his chin. “Velcome to the party.”
Drag - from School of the Legends Year One
Dog - from The Secret Portal Part One (Lexi POV)
Ash leapt to her feet and ran to the door with me close behind. Ash banged and screamed to be let in until Carla Baxter opened the door. We rushed inside before she could say anything.
Carla looked back outside as the dragon burst through the trees. I expected it to shoot fireballs at us, but instead, it sat down, like a dog.
Carla laughed. She actually laughed.
Water - from The Secret Portal Part One (Lexi POV)
I stood back, hugging myself as Robbie knelt in front of Kelsey. He pressed his fingers to her temples, and Kelsey shuddered—maybe in relief. A soft maroon glow emanated from Robbie’s fingertips. The darkness beneath Kelsey’s skin began to fade, and it traveled up Robbie’s arms, that same menacing glow radiating beneath his skin. After a moment, he released his grip from Kelsey, who let out a sharp gasp, the light gone.
Robbie stood, closing his eyes. The darkness now inside him turned into a bright maroon.
“Shut your eyes!” he commanded.
I obeyed, and through my eyelids, I could still see a sharp white light blaring. I squeezed my eyes tighter, though water still seeped out the edges. The light faded.
Gorgeous - from The Secret Portal Part Two (Rose POV)
CJ passed me the book, which I took, examining the color. It was gorgeous. I flipped through the book. The illustrator did a lot of work to show the information of what Brown was talking about.
“Alex, you get The Theory of Wormhole-Based Powers by Raissa Kamanzi.”
“Oh, I love her!” Alex snatched the book as my heart stopped at the name.
“Raissa Kamanzi?” I asked.
Alex nodded vigorously. “She’s this brilliant woman who dives deep into Alii power theory. She talks all about the science behind them and how they could potentially expand beyond what is known. My aunt would love her; she does similar things in her field. She also has tried to replicate some powers synthetically, which could help with equalizing Neutrum and Ceters.”
Hat - from The Secret Portal Part One (Akash POV)
I turned to Carla. “Hey,” I said lamely.
“Hey,” she said, smiling. “It’s nice to see them get along.”
“For sure,” I agreed. “I’m glad we have y’all on the team now.”
Carla smiled, but something caught her eye. “What’s that on your hat?”
“Huh? Oh.” I took off my hat—I’m so stupid now I have hat hair—so she could see the logo. “It’s, uh, a baseball cap.”

I think it's time that I do some SOTL characters! Long overdue!
Let's start with Jack, Tierney, and Úrsula!
What uncommon/common fear do they have?
Jack - dentists...sorry my guy. But also tooth fairies on top of that
Tierney - he has a high royal standing, so I feel like he'd be afraid of like being kidnapped or someone close to him being kidnapped
Úrsula - losing control of her curse
Do they have any pet peeves?
Jack - lazy people, whether they get results or not, piss him off because Jack always gives it his all for a very predictable result
Tierney - people judging him
Úrsula - people who don't leave her alone
What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?
Jack - the harp he took from the giant's castle, pictures of his family, framed historical documents/photos/art
Tierney - large four-poster bed with canopies, wall full of books with a ladder, a desk where he practices his potions
Úrsula - a handmade large bookshelf filled with books, a cozy corner with beanbags and pillows, a cello with a music stand
What do they notice first in a person?
Jack - height
Tierney - what they're wearing
Úrsula - whatever they're holding
On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance?
Jack - 5/10
Tierney - 2/10 for anything that isn't electric based
Úrsula - 6/10
Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?
Jack - fight
Tierney - fight
Úrsula - flight
Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?
Jack - small family, big family person
Tierney - large family, only kind of a family person (varies depending on who it is)
Úrsula - small family, becomes less of a family person
What animal represents them best?
Jack - probably a small dog
Tierney - cat
Úrsula - bear
What is a smell that they dislike?
Jack - lavender
Tierney - bad breath
Úrsula - smoke
Have they broken any bones?
Jack - yes
Tierney - no
Úrsula - no
How would a stranger likely describe them?
Jack - “Oh that kid? He's a strange one alright. Had him in a couple classes but never talked to him. Never have I seen someone so mediocre at everything. Teachers would always pull him aside and have conversations with him. He never seems to be fully applying himself. He never - and I mean never - bombed a test. But he also never did anything extraordinary. No awards. No punishments. He'd probably stick in the background if he wasn't trying to get everyone's approval.”
Tierney - “The third prince? I don't know anything about him. He's still a kid, and his older brothers are getting betrothed. Speaking of which, Jarred's ball is coming up, and I'm going! How do I look? Do you think he'll pick me? He better. Richard and Amani are trending! Aren't they such a cute couple? Who were we talking about, again?”
Úrsula - *suddenly getting quiet* “Her? That... beast? Well, she's kinda scary and ugly, isn't she? Like you can almost see the human behind her. It's uncanny. I wonder what she did to make herself get cursed like that. I almost pity her. She's apparently friendly, but no one wants to approach her.”
Are they a night owl or a morning bird?
Jack - morning bird
Tierney - night owl
Úrsula - morning bird
What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?
Jack - loves pumpkins, hates cherries
Tierney - loves tea, hates beans
Úrsula - loves chocolate, hates lemon
Do they have any hobbies?
Jack - loves being outdoors, doing chores around the farm, which he'll argue is a hobby. But he'd like to build a fence or a birdhouse whenever he has time. Woodwork.
Tierney - potions!
Úrsula - too many... Composing, reading, playing the cello are the main ones!
Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises?
Jack - eh, middle of the road. Depends on his mood. I think he'd like the party more than the surprise.
Tierney - nope. Overdone...please just do something small...
Úrsula - I don't think she cares for surprises. She'd love that she was acknowledged, overwhelmed by the party, and neutral to the surprise part.

For someone from SOTL maybe? I'm curious to learn more about them :)
Hello! Thanks for the ask! (From this OC details ask game)
Ooh SOTL! I think I'll do Prince Tierney! I've only written one chapter with him but I love him so much!
💭 THOUGHT BALLOON — what is your oc's MBTI, enneagram, and/or other personality aspects (if known/interested in)?
I legitimately cannot take the MBTI test because a) ew Likert scale b) it's painfully obvious to me which letter the question is testing so I find it easier to just use my knowledge of the letters' meaning to answer this.
Tierney is INTP-A. He's perfectly content with a small circle of friends (which he doesn't have yet admittedly) and would rather spend time working on his chemistry experiments than go to another stupid ball or gala. He does constantly blow shit up, but that doesn't stop him from continuing to try to get it right. His electricity-based powers excite him and the thought of learning more about them makes him look forward to the school.
As for enneagram, I also refuse to take a yes/no quiz and make an account to do so?! Reading the types, I think Tierney is The Individualist. He likes solitude and analysis and fact-checking sources. Very scientifically minded.
🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?
Tierney doesn't really see the issue in his chemistry experiments blowing up. Could they be harmful? Eh, yeah, but who cares about self-preservation when you can have science!?
Tierney also has a terrible sleep schedule. Just garbage.
Tierney is also a bit of a perfectionist. He will not stop doing something until it is perfect.
🔺 RED TRIANGLE POINTED UP — does your oc know how to use any weapons?
Well, he did have mandatory sword training. He hated it. He'd rather make an explosive.
Thanks for asking about SOTL!
