Why Homecoming Dress-Up Days Seem to be Less Important
It’s that time of year again, where each and every student body goes just a bit crazy for their Tiger pride during, you guessed it, Homecoming. This year, I wanted to get a closer look at what students and staff thought about our week-long dress-up days, and why dress-up days seem to be getting less participants from students throughout the years. Three important questions were brought up to students and staff at NRHS. Mr. Swanson was first on the radar to get his opinion about why dress-up days are getting less successful. “There is no incentive,” said Swanson. “People aren't going to dress up if they don't get anything in return.” He also continued by stating, “With a bigger school, it is harder to get everyone to dress up.” Junior Will Carr said, “Yes, the majority dress up.” Jonny Buchman, also a junior, responded, “I believe that the dress-up days were successful because most of the students in this school wore the specific dress-up each days.” While Mr. Swanson would rather see the whole student body dress up, students expect to see very few student participation.
