So I just reread “This is Heaven in Hiding” by @orangeyouglad8 and can’t get over how this gif truly reflects Lexa in court.

Hello I would like to order 5+ headcannons about TIHIH please and thank you.

you asked so nicely anon! here you go:

1. Clarke and Lexa make it a point to see Lincoln and Octavia once a month just for double date drinks/dinner.  Sometimes Lincoln will cook for them all - depending on what Octavia’s schedule with school is and also her stress levels.  It’s one thing they all try not to reschedule unless absolutely necessary. Anya gives Lexa so much shit about it, too. Mostly because she can, but also because she’s a little jealous. They start doing a regular bigger meet-up too, on top of just the double dates.

2. The first winter that Clarke and Lexa are officially together together is the first winter Clarke doesn’t spend whining and complaining about the cold. Usually, as soon as the holidays pass, she’s a complete grump about the brutal east coast winters, but with a happy Lexa to spend her free time with, her mood is boosted tenfold. Lexa also has a few scarves that get mysteriously pilfered from her apartment after Clarke has left for the day.

3. The first time Clarke meets Aden is not planned and actually takes all three of them by surprise. She walks into the apartment, home earlier than usual after a round of drinks with Wells and Sinclair trying to woo a new client, to Lexa on the couch arguing about something Clarke can’t even track to a voice on the computer screen. Lexa doesn’t even notice her take off her coat and slide out of her shoes until Aden interrupts her ranting with a very pointed and curious “is that the famous Clarke?” and Lexa jumps with surprise. Her face transforms into a huge smile and she reminds Aden she didn’t think Clarke would be home and pats the couch so Clarke can join them which she does with a huge smile because Aden just won so many points in her book for arguing with Lexa over something ridiculous (sports) and holding his own. She makes a joke that usually she’s the one who has to do all the keeping Lexa in line. (Aden laughs loudly and texts Lexa that Clarke is a keeper when they hang up.)

4. It takes four months of back and forth flirting and one-upping each other before Raven finally takes the plunge and starts sleeping with Anya.  It’s the happiest Clarke has ever seen her.

5. Octavia starts just asking Lexa for notes and outlines and help prepping for her finals because that nerd not only kept a ton from when she was in school and prepping for the Bar, but she’s also way more patient than Clarke. Clarke stops buying Octavia drinks for months after that.

I am a mess of conflicting emotions today as one of my faves comes to a close. The amount of ~feels I have for this fic ... I can’t even tell you. Happy for you all to experience the magic of @orangeyouglad8 final installment for This Is Heaven In Hiding, but still sad to see it go. Had to pay homage to this incredible work from my buddy.

I had not heard of More Women Than Warriors though by @steklir (SilentStars.) I’ve been reading it all weekend. It’s sooooo good!

This song really reminds me of Clarke in “This Is Heaven in Hiding” by @orangeyouglad8, particularly in Chap 15.

Really enjoying it thus far. They both have lives and responsibilities and friendship, outside of the relationship, and the writing is solid.

TIHIH HEADCANONS PLEASE

1. Lexa and Clarke start going to random bar trivia on Wednesday nights. It sort of starts as a joke but once Raven and Murphy join the team they start wiping the floor every week. They win so many free beers and people groan when they show up and sit at their favored booth in the back. Even a few drinks in, they lock in answers before most of the other teams.

2. Now that Clarke actually likes her job she has so much more free time. And not that she’s not busy and working less, more than her mind is happier so her downtime can be spent doing the activities she loves instead of hating everything and taking longer to get her shit done. She starts reading for fun again and whenever Lexa finds her with a book, she smiles this cute little smile and Clarke just has to kiss her.

3. For Lexa’s birthday Clarke makes sure she doesn’t get stuck on a trial and rents a nice beach house out of the city. They spend five glorious days soaking up sun, swimming, cooking, drinking, and on a couple rainy afternoons, break out some old board games from one of the closets (some pieces missing of course). Anya and the rest of their friends come out for a couple days and spend the summer holiday at the beach. Raven sneaks out some fireworks and they set them off drinking and laughing. It is one of the best birthdays Lexa has ever had and every time she looks over at Clarke her heart feels like it’s going to jump out of her chest. She has never been so in love.

4. Clarke is always cold. Always. It’s astounding to Lexa, who is always hot. Clarke’s cold feet sneak attack her every night in bed. Clarke’s cold fingers crawl over her stomach. Clarke’s body huddles up in layers and layers and Lexa gets hot just looking at her. But when Clarke snuggles into her for warmth, it’s absolute perfection. As miserable as Clarke is in winter, Lexa is in summer. Somehow it makes sense.

5. The gang gets invited to Gus’ Thanksgiving. It’s as amazing and Lexa has said. There is every kind of food and side dish anyone could imagine for the meal, complete with several cocktails and perfectly paired wines. It’s almost like a tasting menu, except this time when Gus leaves the Polis kitchen to explain each dish he sits at the head of the table adding his booming laughs to the conversation. It is the happiest Thanksgiving Clarke has had in ages, and that’s even before she sees the tables of pies. She curls up into Lexa in the car on the way home and kisses her jaw and feels immensely grateful for this woman and everything she’s brought into Clarke’s life.

what's up orange? so i've been meaning to read TIHIH for a long time now, but just recently got the chance thanks to the quarantine. i'm writing this because you know what i'm overwhelmed with FEELINGS!!!! oh man, i'm literally drowning in feelings right now. you're a genius, your mind!!! i've already reread the whole thing twice (i've also checked your previous fics and didn't know you wrote brittana fics too. lmao we all went through that path didn't we? i'll read them too, i've got time now)

firstly i gotta mention how much i love the way you describe a character’s feelings precisely, but also concisely. like u really made me feel like i was lexa/clarke as if i was going through the exact same thing and the lack of unnecessary words make it a delight to read. it was really easy to imagine them in my head like a movie. also thank u for the adult representation! it was refreshing after so many hs/college fics since im also an adult & i also have very similar struggles at work and life

you said somewhere here on tumblr that they would get married at some point. do you think they would have kids too? would they get a pet as well? like where do you see them 5 or 10 years later? (also we need a sequel think about it pleaseeee)

when did people @ courthouse learn about their relationship? i mean they’ve gotta find out at some point right? how was their reaction like? also were they ever against each other at court after they ‘officially’ started dating? if so, how was it like? because tension!!!! bickering!!! stubborn idiots who are also in love!!!! (i don’t know how clarke’s new job is like so sorry in advance) i would love to see another courtroom scene tbh but with feelings this time

Well helloooo!!! I really want to start off by saying that these messages were a true delight and such a blast of love and excitement that it was quite refreshing during these weird chaos days! I am honored that you’ve chosen to spend some of this downtime with my story :D

Writing fic that includes real adult day to day and relationships and ups and downs and struggles and friendships was and is very important to me. I’m an adult and these are all things that I’m facing as well.  I tell the stories I want to see and I’m happy that so many people agree!

Yes, these two will eventually get married but they’re not really in a rush to do so.  They know they’re in it for the long haul, and with both of them being so busy and coming to terms with where they are in their lives and careers, it’s not a pressing need. Neither of them fear a breakup or that they aren’t endgame, so anything else is just icing on the cake. I’m sure Lexa would love a dog (wanted one growing up but was never going to happen with her parents), but with their apartment living and busy schedules, she may just have to settle for a cat.

Gossip in the legal community, especially with this small knit group of litigators, travels like wildfire, so once they were officially official it was not a secret.  To be honest it was probably more of an open secret for a while even though Lexa refused to even acknowledge the rumors until Clarke switched specialties and was no longer a potential opposing counsel. And, of course, once Clarke switches specialties, she will no longer be litigating anything at the courthouse as she no longer does that anymore!  One of the reasons they did not continue to have cases against each other in court is because Lexa, ever proper and ethical, did not allow it or switched cases whenever she could. There’s no way that would fly and the potential repercussions of it could be not great for both of them.
