This is not a joke.
I wonder what he expects the frail elderly, the disabled, the chronically ill to do.
My suggestion to Tim Boyd: don't become a public servant if you don't believe in public service.

Stephen King’s Hot Take on Texas
Tim Boyd’s tirade, which also suggested that “lazy” residents find their own ways of procuring water and electricity, immediately drew backlash. Later, he announced his resignation.
As of Tuesday morning, February 16, many of the roughly 4000 residents of Colorado City, Texas, have been suffering for over 24 hours from lack of water, power, and heat due to this severe winter storm. Mayor Tim Boyd posted to Facebook with some fatherly advice for his constituents:
“Let me hurt some feelings while I have a minute!!
“No one owes you are your family anything; nor is it the local government’s responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim it’s your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout! If you don’t have electricity you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your family warm and safe. If you have no water you deal without and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family. If you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising! Only the strong will survive and the week will parish. Folks,God has given us the tools to support ourselves in times like this. This is sadly a product of a socialist government where they feed people to believe that FEW will work and others will become dependent for handouts. Am I sorry that you have been dealing without electricity and water; yes! But I’ll be damned if I’m going to provide for anyone that is capable of doing it themselves! We have lost sight of those in need and those that take advantage of the system and meshed them into one group!! Bottom line quit crying and looking for a handout! Get off your ass and take care of your own family!
“Bottom line-DONT A PART OF PROBLEM, BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!!”
As you might expect, Boyd received a bit of criticism for his typo-ridden rant. For one thing, power providers do, in fact, owe their paying customers the power they purchased. Expecting what you pay for isn’t expecting a socialist handout; in fact, it is the heart of capitalism.
I haven’t had hot water to be able to shower for seven days now and counting. Our city lost water completely for three days and we’ve had to use water saved from the bathtub to be able to flush the toilet. And I’m one of the very fortunate ones who never lost power.
My coworker lost power and water completely for over 60 hours and was trying to keep her and her two young kids warm in their car before they eventually got rescued (they live in a hilly area and driving conditions were dangerous).
Meanwhile, our politicians are either escaping to Mexico or badmouthing their own citizens for asking for help. What kind of human being, much less a leader of the people, does that? I’m so ashamed to be represented by these people and hurt for those who are really struggling right now.
Former Texas mayor and perpetual wittle bitch Tim Boyd has resigned in disgrace after telling dying people to die more quietly.
“It’s not the government’s responsibility to support you during trying times”
Then what, pray tell, is the fucking government for then???
