"我们skewl" is killing me
unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.
Maybe accidental queer baiting? The way someone may not mean to say something rude, but it may come off rude, so it's rude. Frustrating either way.
Not being a dick, just a friendly clarification.
By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.
There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.
That's queerbaiting.
Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.
The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.
Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.

One like nitpick thing that drives me crazy is when people call Blue Whales the largest whales or the largest living mammals or some shit like that
Because yes that is true. But when you frame it like that you are completely disregarding the absolutely batshit reality that Blue Whales are the largest animals that have ever existed on earth through the entire history of the planet and they are alive right now today
I’m glad that OP:
1) Figured this out.
2) Shared so others can learn from their mistake.
in order to truly love and care for the people of america, you have to hate the united states
The beautiful art of Thomas Blackshear II
i went to his website and saw even more great art! sharing some more which i particularly appreciated
PSA for my writer friends and fellow medical whumpers and sickfic enjoyers: you don't have to injure your character badly to fuck them up.
Two weeks ago I fell off a horse (or rather, fot thrown off with force) and slammed into the arena wall with my back and right shoulder. What looked very dramatic at first and had me struggling to breathe for a hot minute including a ride in the ambulance to the ER ended up "only" being bad bruising. No broken bones, no internal bleeding. Just a bruised shoulder, ribs, and back.
I was released home the same day after my x-rays came back clear with pain meds.
And let me tell you, I was almost incapacitated by "just" bruises. I barely managed to get around by myself at home. Could barely stand for more than a few minutes bc my back hurt so much. Had to force myself to breathe properly. Had shit lying around on the ground for days bc I couldn't bend down to pick it up.
Getting out of bed in the morning still hurts. Imagine sitting on the toilet and thinking "fuck how am I gonna clean myself up".
It's been two weeks and I'm now finally starting to feel somewhat normal again. I expect to feel some pain for at least two more weeks.
So, uh, if your character gets knocked down good, like, in a fight, they can be totally helpless even without any serious injuries.
Tested for y'all, can't recommend.
On a similar note: I'm currently getting over illness, and I only had 102F fever for, like, 9 hours before it broke, and a week later, I'm still managing recovery. I burnt myself the fuck out. On paper, it should be nothing, but I feel sore in my whole body even now like I did after a fight. I'm in my whump prime here.
My hometown, Spokane, Washington, is currently facing the worst wildfire I've ever seen.
3 fires that have surrounded a huge chunk of the city and burned more than 5400 acres. It burned down my parents' old house, the last house I lived in with them.
It's bad.
My sister and her family are safe, but hundreds of people have been evacuated. If you're local to the area, keep yourself safe first, but if you can donate, fire stations are taking supplies both for refugees and the fire response team.
The Red Cross has also set up a fund for fire relief.
the humanity of the AIDS crisis: the ward by gideon mendel

It is sobering seeing these too too young men, who when these photos were taken, would have been only a few years older than me.
But thanks to government indifference to AIDS and HIV, never benefitted from safer sex information programming that I did in the late 80’s.
A few years is all it took to go from men dying alone and uncared-for, ignored by an ignorant and hateful government, to our community angry and outraged, launching the safer sex and AIDS awareness campaigns that saved lives like mine.
Forever in the debt of the gay men who went before me, and forever in the debt of the lesbians who cared for them when families and medical professionals wouldn’t.
@kittybroker how much?
The sneaky sniler smiling their way on the market for the low low price of only $38.90!
violent abuser, self outed nonce, fascist, author of some of the most tedious opinion columns i have ever been paid to read in the face of STIFF competition from the uk commentariat, subject of one of stewart lee's best bits after the paul nuttalls one HAS FINALLY REMOVED HIS FUCKING CONSCIOUSNESS FROM THIS WONDERFUL WORLD
TERFS are showering him with eulogies, this predator of schoolgirls and beater of his pregnant girlfriend
CRAB PARTY CRAB FUCKING RAVE
ETA let's not forget he was also eye-wateringly racist, again in the face of some stiff commentariat competition
One of his more infamous columns:

Magnificent. Photo from my collection, no date/info.
There are a lot of people who start creative projects with no business or financial plan, because "who cares, it isn't important, we'll figure that out later". And you can't let yourself become that person. Not because I'm a sneering finance bro who thinks your woke animated youtube series wont make money, but because if you don't you'll wind up financially exploiting your friends for years
Look, it's none of my business if you wanna work yourself to the bone for no money so you can make your dream project a reality. I think you shouldn't, but also let's be real that's basically a rite of passage for young creatives. But as soon as you start involving other people? You need a plan. You need to be able to compensate them for their time, and you need to have it in writing
