as a person under the agender/nonbinary umbrella I actually think the recently increased focus on a nonbinary person’s agab is insanely fucking uncomfortable and blatantly exorsexist. Stop trying to sort NB people into boxes of amab vs afab, transfem vs transmasc, tma vs tme, etc etc. It is not praxis or activism to keep attempting to binarize people whose entire identities are built around the fact that they DO NOT ADHERE to a binary. You are just being a fucking tar pit #sorry
I am convinced an obsession with nonbinary peoples' AGABs is a primary reason why so many ostensibly nonbinary-friendly Tumblr users are pissed off about transfems AFAB and about transneutrals and about people who won't refer to themselves as TM[E/A] and about intersex people who say "it's not that simple" and about anyone who says anything like "not every trans person AFAB is transmasc and not every trans person AMAB is transfem". It is because they are monstrously uncomfortable with the idea of a person who they cannot easily and instantly sort into the boxes of Penis Person or Vagina Person. On a fundamental level, a great deal of trans-friendly people still build their entire worldview and all of their theory off of "the world consists of Penis People and Vagina People and never the twain shall meet", and so their brains break and they blow their tops as soon as their classification system meets resistance.
gonna be honest i don’t know how many more ‘enter the 6 digit code we sent to your phone’s i got left in me
Genuinely find it very interesting how Evil Dead Burn presented how much the family enabled Will's abuse.
I wish we had spent more time exploring the implied abuse or at least anger issues and favouritism that Edgar and Susan had on their family. Both of them are rude and abrasive to Alice. Edgar snaps at both Polly and Joe. They heap praises onto Will whilst cutting Joe aside. Polly is restrained in unfair positions.
A lot of Edgar's pre-deadite warning signs of increased aggression go unnoticed bc this behaviour (if not abuse, then aggression) is clearly normal. Alice points out that Susan knew that Will was abusive.
Susan enables her family's behaviour, right up until the end. She would kiss the corpse of her husband moments after he violently attacks their son because he promised that they were only hurting him because he needed something, and if Joe would just behave and give it to them then he would stop. And so she enables him, and she lets him in again, and she gets him killed.
Joe - presented as a least favourite child, and afraid of his brother and father's outbursts - is also an enabler. He didn't protect Alice from Will, and he left Thya when she needed him the most because that fear of his father enabled the cycle of abuse. Thya literally points out that he had an easier time fighting back against his wife than he did his father.
That is to say that Alice is paying the price for a cycle of aggression (from half the family) and enabling (from the other half).
It's an evil dead film so I don't expect a massive focus on backstory, but I wish we'd had more family context and less dagger context. The cycle of abuse was important to the story
hey so filming people without their consent is weird. you know that right? filming people you don't know and they aren't aware of what you're doing is creepy. posting strangers online is fucking weird. we're too comfortable with doing it now for shits and giggles, chasing some sort of viral hit instead of reckoning with the fact that you posted someone who did not consent to their body and face being publically used.
we're being pushed these Meta Glasses as if mass surveillance of strangers is fun and normal! it's weird!!! there are already reports that people are using these to film women without them knowing and sharing it to communities who get off on this shit. who else knows who people are filming. these glasses with cameras are not obvious and that is dangerous.
Okay but also this is legitimately dangerous. People hide from social media for very valid reasons. Domestic violence survivors, former trafficking victims, former cult members - all of these people rely on the ability to not be found again. Putting people's photos online absolutely endangers their lives. A cheap joke online is not worth the value of someone's life.
The amount of customers that will confidently claim I'm wrong about the systems, policies, or basically anything at the place I work at is horrific. I LITERALLY WORK HERE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
Like, some clients had my boss's personal phone number before her phone died, and one of those clients called the business number for Business Purposes. They mentioned they'd been trying to reach my boss, and I mentioned she had a new personal number & phone because her old one broke. The client then started Muttering™️ about how the way the message sent makes them want to try again or smth & I just. What is the logic there. That the employee spending hours 5 days a week working in close proximity to their boss & had to message her through FB Messenger for 1-2 months until she got a new phone is lying? Doesn't know what they're talking about???? And it's like this for almost EVERYTHING
Having access to Work™️ on off-days SUCKS because I accidentally opened the app & saw that someone finally responded to a message I sent 10 years ago (/hyperbole) claiming we do have the information I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THEM WE DIDN'T HAVE - MULTIPLE TIMES, but that it's fine because they have something to tell us over the phone tomorrow (we are not open tomorrow either 🙄)
In this instance, I do not think this person has sent us updated information like they claimed, but it sucks so bad that this happens so often because I'm the only one who keeps track of this information that we're LEGALLY REQUIRED to keep track of. Like, my coworkers (and boss) rock otherwise, but they do NOT help with this
In fact, the hardest part of customer service is getting people to do simple tasks that they usually know how to do but just decide not to for some reason and then they're upset with us when we can't help them without it
The amount of customers that will confidently claim I'm wrong about the systems, policies, or basically anything at the place I work at is horrific. I LITERALLY WORK HERE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

the thing about being nonbinary is that you really do start to forget that other people have such strict walls around what is and isn’t allowed for genders. i thought we all agreed that we made that up. could you climb out of the cave real quick and feel the sunshine for a minute.
ughh i hate trans men because they’re men! never mind that i treat them completely differently to cis men or that i casually infantilize them and insult them using specifically very stereotypically gendered insults like bitch or cunt. sigh, men ammiright

When someone is behaving erratically or unusually in public, this does not automatically make them a threat.
If you sit next to the person on the bus who you see as spasming and twitching... most of the time they'll continue to move the same way they were with no ill intent to you. It's not dangerous, it's tourettes/stimming/cerebral palsy symptoms.
If you chat to the homeless man yelling to himself outside the shops... most of the time you'll learn why he's upset, have a chat that makes him feel less alone, and he won't want your help or will calm down because he's been acknowledged.
If you check on the woman moaning and writhing in her seat on the train... most of the time you'll find she's hungover or in withdrawal or suffering from a chronic medical problem, and you can offer support that could make her feel better or save her life.
Most people aren't out to get you. Not everything about a person's behaviour is intentional or directed at you. Strange does not equal threatening.
Wait what the…
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has died at 71 after a brief illness, according to his office.
Oh.
learning to notice an absence of people of color is crazy. you start seeing it everywhere. ill see a random pic of characters or people or whatever and be like "these are all white people. why"
all the babies in those baby youtube video memes. humanized character posts. like. its the little innocent shit. and like, the people making those baby memes probably arent seeking out white babies. maybe theyre just easier to find. but why are they easier to find? a complicated question, surely... but you know what it probably comes down to. someone, somewhere, maybe a lot of someones in a lot of places, made a choice. maybe knowingly, maybe not. but they made a choice. it starts to make you feel like a conspiracy theorist!!
its really funny that after 2 months this post is still making racists come into my askbox treating me like im a horrible person for pointing out that sometimes people of color are excluded from things in visible and offputting ways. cry about it
