little cover i worked up for somewhere in sweden

(alternate versions + little bit of design explanation under cut)

wanted to emulate those 70's sci-fi minimalist covers... specifically the ones published by penguin & pelican books. i think that style is very very reminiscent of the sort of sterilized corporate design feel that drives the set design & tone of severance, but when you include the book texture it makes it feel a lot more human, a lot more familiar. familiarity is a driving force of this fic as the lines become blurred between inner & outer self for both characters. the colors are meant to represent the tempers; helly is red, representing malice, mark's blue represents woe, the yellow represents frolic (Helena's primary temper), and the green represents dread (mark scout's primary temper). there's a lot of overlap in these tempers, hence the way the colors intersect and cancel each other out.

This is walrus! He’s a pure icewing from one of the outer villages, and he has a tooth mutation! The second peice of art is by @mrmrsdarklordjrthethird btw.

rough pony hellyna sketch as i rewatch s2 so far… each department has matching cutie marks (blue for mdr, green for o&d etc). helena doesn’t have a cutie mark and/or had hers removed and/or “recieves” a cutie mark when she becomes CEO… I also generally do not know what her vibe is so get blank flank’d loser

fun fact: i’m pretty partial to seawings, i think it’s fun to make dragons based off of sea creatures, just because of how much biodiversity there is in aquatic ecosystems! I’ve never been super knowledgeable about fish, but boy do i love staring at aquariums.
