I am not a fan of wasting precious timber. But timber selection is very important with each new piece I start work on. I usually purchase extra lengths, sometimes up to 100% just to select the best for my clients. The sapwood usually ends up as testing pieces, or jigs which I may use in the future. And so the offcut pile, piles up.
