I watched Tim burtons Alice in wonderland today. It was a pretty good movie but the main thing I took away from it is that you could do some funky things with alice’s gender. In the original jabberwocky poem, which is recited in the movie, the slayer of the jabberwocky (Alice) is male, and the mad hatter even refers to Alice as ‘he’ and ‘boy’ a few times within that context. Alice also generally goes against the social and gender norms of the time. Early in the movie she imagines all the people dancing in the opposite gender’s clothing, her entire character arc is rejecting ‘traditional femininity’ in favor of doing her own thing, culminating in her rejecting the marriage to Hamish and becoming an apprentice at her fathers company (a traditionally masculine role). All this to say, ftm alice is real to me.

I don’t even know if there is any amount of fandom or community around this movie in the slightest.

Spooky Magic at Walt Disney World

If anyone knows how to create amazing illusions with the latest technology, it's the Disney "imagineers"! 

This mind bending combination of fireworks, puppets, lasers, and projections transforms the serene Sleeping Beauty Castle into a darkly magical Halloween haunted castle, a candy wonderland, a mediaeval village, a graveyard, a haunted circus, and more. 

If you like Disney movies, you'll recognise many of the characters and musical pieces that appear in this spectacle. Jack Skellington is your charming host!

On a more serious note, I'm glad to see Disney moving away from 100% firework shows which are environmentally unfriendly due to the amount of air pollution they generate. Projects and lights are less wasteful and allow more room for creative expression in my opinion.
