2021 Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition _ “Time Space Existence” _ 22.05.2021 - 21.11.2021 _ Participating project: “The Institute of Architecture”, Kingsland Road, Dalston, London _ Student: Timothy Percival / BA2 _ BAS2 _ London South Bank University /LSBU.
“Architecture as a discipline follows closely advancements in digital technology. not only must the institute consider its physical presence, but also its digital positioning. The institute must form a comprehensive program, addressing data-driven topics such as geo-spatial analysis, parametric design, and ubiquitous computing.
The institute becomes part of a global archipelago, each island connected digitally to the next. Whilst the physical institute must act as an authoritative (albeit accessible) island, the digital institute must strive to remove the segregation of information and to provide a global connected platform.
The institute must act as an authority, as such elevating, separating, and isolating itself from its surroundings. The institute’s fundamental type is at odds therefore, with its responsibility to the public. Whilst retaining its position of authority, the institute must be accessible. An island still linked to the mainland.”
