- How many days, months, weeks...years had it been? To have the pinkette awaken, imparted with the knowledge of prophecies and lore of a world where chaos had stopped time. Where Valhalla had merged with the "Seen World" a constant reminder of the failure of the Warrior Goddess. Where the desperate cries of former allies and eerily akin faces of enigmatic aligned haunted Lightning as she traveled discreetly through the outskirts of the holy city of Luxerion.
It seemed to be any other type of day, so why did she hold such an eerie feeling in her chest? She was looking for someone, as she normally was, though perhaps it wasnt a someone themselves but rather a way to them.
The name sent bullets barreling into her chest. It gripped her and made her breathing falter at the mere thought of her younger and only sister. Her sister who was gone. Lightning couldnt...wouldnt, accept it. She could not come to terms with the fact that she had failed her sister not once but twice, and that even though Serah had forgiven her before Lightning had returned to crystal for 500 years, her subconscious still played through the scenarios in which Lightning had let her sister down. 500 years was a long time to sit with such memories. It had worn the older Farron down, before building up her resolve to set things right.
She was so hard on herself. She blamed herself for everything that Serah had gone through, everything she had tried to prevent, everything that she had known about from the beginning…it was the sole reason that Lightning had not shed her tears at the final goodbye with Serah in Valhalla. Because Lightning had already known of Serah's fate, and had been powerless to change it.
Just thinking about it made her throat tighten, and to clear her mind she would abruptly shake her head. Eyes closed as she would lean against one of the run down buildings on the outskirts of the city. She had come to know this place well and knew no one dwelled in the area.
Crossing her arms over her chest she stood in silence for a long time, contemplating something...until she was jolted from her thoughts by a sudden noise. Eyes shot open and narrowed, she had uninvited guests. -
