When Isaac looked down at the boy he felt like his heart was being crushed. The poor boy was only a baby, but his world, his everything was going to be lost. How could Isaac stand that? He was only a child, and while he was a paradox that didn’t mean he didn’t deserve to live! Besides, it owed it to Rain to see to it that this little guy got a shot at a happy life, considering all the suffering he brought on to Rain.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay.” Isaac scooped the little one up from his crib, catching some blankets in the process and cradled Solis close to his chest. “We’re going to go see your daddy, okay?” Isaac promised in a sweet tone while rubbing the baby’s back.
He may have Aeon’s wrath to face later, but this little one wouldn’t cause a problem if he was just adopted into the royal family, especially after Astrum was born. Yeah, things would be just fine for him, Isaac was sure of that. Looking down at his big green eyes Isaac couldn’t imagine how King Noctis could turn away the little guy, especially since they had a family resemblance.
Isaac paused and scooped up a few toys that were lying out so Solis could have something soft and familiar with him. Moving through timelines was scary enough for adults who understood what was going on, but for Solis it might frighten him to tears. When Isaac stepped through the portal sure enough Solis started howling and wailing. “Hush, no, it’s okay.” Isaac cooed, giving him a kiss on the head. “We’re almost there.” Sadly since they were in the Rift Isaac needed to take him through one more portal which only caused more crying from the baby.
“I know, I know.” Solis was gently rocked to try and soothe him. “Someone you don’t know is carrying you around and you just want your daddy. That’s so scary.” The teddy bear Isaac had grabbed early was pulled out of the small bag Isaac quickly packed and waggled next to Solis. “Please stop crying, baby.” Isaac begged, starting to feel like crying himself from how sad and scared Solis was. Finally Isaac tried singing whatever song popped into his head as a last resort since Solis was getting more and more fussy. Probably needed a nap at this point, but Isaac was carrying him through downtown Insomnia so there was no stopping for a nap yet. Solis just got more and more fussy, beating his little fists against Isaac and leaving the man to question if he’d ever be ready for parenthood.
Finally Isaac reached the castle and used a few connections to get in and zero in on Noctis’ location.
“Your Majesty!” Isaac called, walking briskly over to him. “He’s yours now. Good luck!” And after dropping the toys and blankets at his feet Isaac beat a hasty exit. “His name’s Solis! Oh! And don’t ask who the dad is!”
“Wait—what?” Noctis looked from Isaac’s retreating back to the whinny bundle in his arms. “Oh man…”
Two small fists clung to his shirt as Solis whined “Papa.” With uncertainty, Noctis began rocking the baby in his arms, wishing he had Ignis right there to pass the child off to, but somehow he seemed to be calming down already. “You want your Papa, right? Yeah…me too…”
