(Ah Must Be Kiddin' Myself, by The Masked Mare) Starlight x Maud! (Timescales, by Bicyclette) Fancy Pants x transBlueblood! (Blueblooded Bluebell, by David Silver. Seriously please please read this one it's easily on my top 3 fics ever)
HOLY FUCK I LOVE TIMESCALES THAT FIC GAVE ME A MENTAL BREAKDOWN
Hey Guys!
Firstly I am so, so sorry to first Anon that I took soooo long to answer this. I kept trying to find manga panels to ‘show my working’ if you like haha but each time I got interrupted by a little someone wanting me to play with or otherwise see to her, and my brain struggles to handle numbers and timescales at the best of times 😂
Thank you to second Anon for also bringing this up, and making me realise I still hadn’t answered first Anon 🙈 ANYWAY.
So I think Isayama is deliberately vague with his (what I like to call) timestamps post-Marley Arc, and this is probably to confuse people about Historia’s pregnancy and wider happenings and to cause discussion and debate.
The easiest way to figure things out and try and get some idea is to skim back through and find any ‘timestamps’ that Isayama gives us, whether they are pregnancy related or not (most are not).
Chronologically, here are events with timestamps:
• 3 years back from Armin’s conversation with Annie, the day after Sasha’s funeral.
- Meeting with government and Historia - Zeke proposal, although contents of ‘secret plan’ not disclosed, except for need for founding and royal Titans - Eren mentions using Historia to activate power of the founder as a royal Titan. He and Levi have a later off-screen conversation.
• 2 years back from Hange visiting Eren in his cell.
(We can assume that this is around the same time as Armin’s conversation with Annie)
- Hizuru come to visit Paradis, Levi tells Yelena she will not be allowed anywhere near Eren, Kiyomi discloses Zeke’s secret plan, Historia agrees to inherit the beast Titan. (Note she does not say she will produce children - only that she will inherit the beast) Levi is not present for this conversation.
• 1 year back from the 104th’s conversation about Eren’s motives and the imprisoned volunteers.
(Again, we can assume this is not long after the return from Liberio.)
- Hange and Levi visit the railroad. Kiyomi has been unsuccessful in gaining any allies for Paradis. Armin asks whether this means they will have to sacrifice Historia. Levi confirms this is correct. Hange then suggests they make a trip to Marley themselves to try and engage in some sort of peace talks.
• 10 months back from Pixis’ conversation with Yelena
(Here’s where it gets tricky. How long after the return from Liberio/ how long before the assassination of Zackley does this conversation take place? It’s very vague, perhaps for a reason).
- Banquet is held to celebrate opening of railroad. Floch takes over guard of Yelena as party is winding down to allow her to meet up with Eren in secret.
I think this is the key event here - it’s been mentioned but never shown to us directly. Historia gives birth ONE MONTH after the scouts return from Liberio, so she would have conceived the child, according to Japanese pregnancy term, 10 months prior to this. So 9 months before the scouts return from Marley.
Can you see how close the banquet may have been to this event? If Pixis is speaking to Yelena close to the time of Historia’s labour, then we can assume that she got pregnant around the date of the banquet. It seems that the scouts were most definitely still on Paradis for this event. If Pixis is talking to Yelena closer to the scouts return from Liberio, then Historia got pregnant sometime after the banquet- around a month later - were the scouts still on Paradis at this point? Well, if we go by these dates, this would be three months after Hange proposed the trip across the sea. Would the scouts have left by this point?
There are so many missing pieces of the puzzle here, it has to have been done on purpose. We don’t know when the exact date is that the scouts left for Marley, we only know it was sometime after the banquet that happened either 10 or 9 months before their return from the Liberio attack (11 or 10 months before Historia gives birth). We also don’t know whether they stayed there the whole time after Eren ran off, or whether they returned home in between that and the raid on Liberio.
On top of this, pregnancy is a tricky thing in itself - it’s very difficult to pinpoint an actual conception date from vague information, but not only this, we have no idea whether Historia is giving birth around her due date, prematurely, or a little late. Even full term is considered 37-40 weeks; so if she’s giving birth at 37 weeks, that’s still almost a month out from her due date, which means our calculations if we’re using due date could be a month out.
I’m sorry this is so long and complex and probably not helpful at all 😅 I’m also shitty with numbers, so if anyone has a better grasp on all this than me, please feel free to correct me!!

I think I’ve done this rant but whoever decided that in Cybertronian timescales that ‘joor’ should be the equivalent of an hour when Jour is the French word for day made a major blunder. Things would make so much more sense if joor was the equivalent of a day and not breem.
(Unless that’s meant to imply that a whole human day is the equivalent of an hour to a Cybertron, but that’s playing 4-D meta-chess whereas it seems more likely whoever came up with that word didn’t realise about that)
How long was Cas dead?
Idk exactly but I think realistically it’s actually like 2 weeks max. It’s really not long.
It’s not CLEAR imo but given 01-02 were successive and 04-05-06 are successive, unless there’s huge long gaps in between 02-03 and 03-04 which it didn’t seem like, it’s not actually been that long. It also seems like 07 picks up right after 06 so another successive episode.
if I remember correctly I think breem is a Cybertronian minute and a joor is a Cybertronian hour. cycle is day, vorn is year, and most of these units are based in factors of 80. I don't remember where I got this information though fjdvdgdv
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH! MY BRAIN!
I got joor and cycle mixed up cos I thought ‘Surely it makes sense if a joor is a day cos that’s basically the French word for a day just misspelled slightly???’
Cycle’s seem the oddest to me because they’re the most nebulous… sometimes it feels people use them for a day, and then sometimes it means more than that, like a week. Saying ‘solar cycle’ makes it more obvious its meant to be a day, and an actual cycle is… something else????
Vorn always felt like it was longer than a year to me. Since obviously Cybertronians can live up to millions of years that’d actually be a small timescale for them to quantify, our years probably feels like a month to them, so I always get the impression than a vorn is a lot longer than a year.
It doesn’t help that different writers seem to use these timescales differently and also sometimes on fics don’t list how long the time scales are. The first TF fic I ever read had a scene where Thundercracker says “I could only buy us a small amount of time, only three orns” and I was like “I don’t know how long that is?? Three days? Three weeks??’ it ended up being around the time of three months, but that would have been conveyed far more easily if they’d have just said ‘three months’.
But once again, while I see how this all makes sense from a world building perspective, from a reading-a-story perspective just straight up using human timescales makes more sense and gives the reader a clearer perspective.
So I have had this thought in my mind for a while. Everyone forgets that Dean and Cas were in purgatory for a whole year. So wouldn't that make Dean 40 and Sam 36? And also that means that Dean and Cas have know each other for 10 years, right? Bc s7 was a year then the gap between was a year and s8 was a year. Thoughts?
but then other years have had no gap between seasons (like 4/5 and 12/13 for example) and Dean and Sam both lived the time the same during purgatory, it didn't age Dean quicker than Sam, time seems to have passed at the same rate in purgatory as on Earth.
However Dean spent 4 months (= 40 years) in Hell and Sam’s soul spent longer. Then Sam lived the time where Dean kept dying in Mystery Spot whereas Dean didn't, though I can't remember if this got ‘revoked’ in the end, I don't think it did?
Their timelines are all over the place. Tbh I personally don't really pay much attention to it but I think @mittensmorgul has kept a tally? I seem to remember some blogging about timescales! :D
