The Ending Sexual Harassment Summit is over, and I feel more hopeful and empowered than I have in a while. I am always humbled and amazed at the places the Academy can take a person, and I can't even express how it feels to know that there are these incredible people at every level working to make the need changes in the system, rather than buying into the popular "If you don't like it, leave" attitude that is so pervasive and successful at preventing real improvements in this country. I am very pleased with the fact that this event was open to undergrads and it was really great to be able to discover some of the power we hold to speak out against oppression, because it can so easily feel like we don't have any. This was a wonderful interdisciplinary effort that I am proud to say will help in my own advocacy and volunteer work (including finding out about resources that I didn't even know TTU had). This is a defining moment for us as an institution on how we move forward. #TimesUpAcademia
