I forget embracing being shirtless very often. I'm a year and two weeks post op today. Doesn't feel like it. I'm still trying to get my chest to respond to heavy lifting but I still think it's very concave/flat at times. I also don't think my frame is meant for a thick rounded chest. Anyway healing after the first 3 months was pretty much simple. I am overall still pleased with my results and I don't regret a second of it.

Does anyone know anything about Dr. Timothy Alexander in Florida? He performs top surgeries for about $2,000 less than other doctors. I can’t find many pictures of his work online.

Of the reviews I can find, some are good. Some are really bad. Almost none of them are in regard to ftm procedures. He also has had some serious malpractice issues in the past, but again, they’re not related to top surgery. He’s also been doing this surgery for 30 years.

I’m really tempted to go with him because of the significantly reduced cost, as well as getting to spend a week in Florida recovering. Guhhh but I don’t know that it’s worth the extra risk.

#FreeUAB Movement Continues to Blaze At Emotional Pep Rally

This was no ordinary pep rally.

On Sunday, students, faculty, alumni and supporters of University of Alabama Birmingham gathered on the UAB Green to be a part of a continual grassroots movement to help resuscitate the football program that was disbanded by UAB president Ray Watts last month. Random cries of "Free UAB" and "Fire Ray Watts" could be heard amid the crowd. And when there were no words to express their disgust with the school's administration. handheld signs and yard signage did the job for them.

Not in attendance — of course — was Watts, but the festive event brought lots of area politicians including Rep. Jack Williams (R-Vestavia), Birmingham Councilman Johnathan Austin along with councilwomen Shelia Tyson and Kim Rafferty. 

Although there were many speeches echoing the dissatisfaction with Watts and the current UAB administration and reminders of the "no confidence" vote from the school's faculty last month, there was much more to celebrate. "If [Ray Watts] was gonna shut any program, this was the right time to do it because legislation [is] about to come up," Tyson reminded the crowd. "Flex your muscles, go down to Montgomery and demand that they give you your own board."

"We are tired of being treated like second-class citizens, like stepchildren," said Austin. "This is not the UAB, the Birmingham I have come to know and love. And it's certainly not the one that you have invested your time, talents and resources into being. You are not in this fight by yourself. You have representatives, you have legislators like Rep. Williams and others who are ready to go down to Montgomery in this legislative session and fight for our right to have fair representation on the board and a good president at UAB."

Tristan Henderson, the senior tight end who became a viral sensation after a leaked video showcased his emotional furor at Ray Watts, drove all the way from California to be a part of the pep rally on Sunday. After he spoke, a candlelight ceremony was held to show solidarity and help motivate the student body to blaze forward with their fight to bring back the school's football program.

Throughout the two-hour event, plenty of food, beverages and several raffle-like giveaways were passed out, putting a positive spin on a very emotional protest.

Timothy Alexander, a former star tight end paralyzed in a car accident and now an inspiration to the UAB Blazers football team and student body, led the celebration as the event emcee. He announced that a future rally is scheduled to take place at Iron City on 22nd Street South this Saturday. Free food and prizes will also be served.
